    Music suggestions

Alright so I've recently gotten into new types of music.. Rock, punk type stuff I guess. Well, I want to get more into it and maybe find some more recent stuff so I'll list some of the groups I've been listening to.

Good Charlotte: the young and the hopeless pretty much love the entire album. the anthem, story of my old mam, young and the hopeless, the valentine song.

    Bon Jovi: slippery when wet
    Linkin park: just individual songs
    Lynyrd Skynrd: everything!!!
The Beatles: some songs off abbey road
    Ac/dc mostly just individual songs
    yellow card: ocean avenue

    Any suggestions for me??

More on the Pop side I'd recommend Motion City Soundtrack, Phoenix, Two Door Cinema Club and The Maine.

I always recommend Minus the Bear and Coheed and Cambria (They're live stuff is incredible) because they are both just crazy good and original.
Gaslight Anthem-They're latest album is superb
Hot Rod Circuit-look them up on itunes and preview some songs and you should like what you hear.
    LA Angels
    Dallas Cowboys
    Anaheim Ducks

Pretty much exactly what I came in here to say. Anytime anyone asks for a band suggestion the first one I say is "Minus the Bear."

You can never, ever go wrong with some Coheed and Cambria.

Also, I agree with Gaslight Anthem. The '59 Sound is a great album.

If you're into instrumental stuff, check out Explosions In The Sky and This Will Destroy You. Both excellent bands (you may know EITS from the Friday Night Lights soundtrack)

Seconding, particularly their first few albums - "I Am The Movie", "Commit This To Memory", and "Even If It Kills Me" are all very good. I wasn't a big fan of "My Dinosaur Life", though.

My album recommendations (more of a pop-rock and alternative rock fan myself):
          • Jimmy Eat World - "Clarity", "Bleed American", "Futures", "Chase This Light", "Invented". I recommend that first album to anyone who has a soul in that I think it's the best album I've yet listened to, but all of these are excellent.

Songs you might already know: "The Middle", "Sweetness"

          • Yellowcard - "Lights and Sounds", "Paper Walls", "When You're Through Thinking, Say Yes". Yellowcard overtime has really tightened up their sound; they're still the same band, but better at what they do and more mature. If you like "Ocean Avenue", you'll like all of these, IMO.

Songs you might already know: "Lights and Sounds", "Rough Landing, Holly", "Hang You Up"

          • Lostprophets - "Start Something", "Liberation Transmission", "The Betrayed". If pressed, I'd pin down Lostprophets as an alternative rock band, but they do have a fair amount of songs with differing styles, ranging from shouty hard rock to funky. That said I love this band. "Liberation Transmission" is probably their safest album relative to your other tastes, though I think the other two are much better.

Songs you might already know: "Last Train Home", "Rooftops (A Liberation Broadcast)"

          • Foo Fighters - "Greatest Hits", "Skin and Bones", "Wasting Light". Dave Grohl and company have the art of modern rock hits down to a science. They are a bit more straight-forward rock than others on this list.

Songs you might already know: "Everlong", "Best of You"

          • My Chemical Romance - "The Black Parade", "Danger Days: The True Lives of The Fabulous Killjoys". My Chemical Romance has a bit of a reputation as 'another emo band' based on their name and image, but on-record at least they actually put together some great songs.

Songs you might already know: "Welcome To The Black Parade", "Sing"

          • Green Day - "Dookie", "International Superhits!", "American Idiot". Good Charlotte and to a lesser extent Yellowcard and My Chemical Romance undoubtedly draw some influence from Green Day, who put out the definitive modern punk rock album in the 1990s with "Dookie". They've become far more pop-rock over time, but they still have an instantly recognizable sound.

Songs you might already know: "Basket Case", "Boulevard of Broken Dreams"

          • Airbourne - "Runnin Wild". If you like AC/DC, Airbourne is pretty much a present-day reincarnation. They even have the from-Australia checkmark ticked off.

Songs you might already know: "Runnin Wild", "Stand Up For Rock and Roll"

          • The All-American Rejects - "Move Along". Similar style to Yellowcard, without the violins.

Songs you might already know: "Move Along", "Dirty Little Secret"

          Hope this helps.

Finish out The Beatles catalog or, at the very least, get the rest of Abbey Road. That album is my personal favorite Beatles album.

As far as punk rock goes, you can't go wrong with The Clash's London Calling. I really dig X and their album Los Angeles is great. Also, The Ramones are a must.

I'm gonna second the Green Day recs, they would be right up your alley with the pop-punk slant.

Weezer's Blue Album is one of the better 90s pop-rock albums, every song on that album is great.

I'm gonna go ahead and reiterate some of the other suggestions here, specifically Motion City Soundtrack, Coheed and Cambria, and even one you mentioned yourself Yellowcard.

In addition I'll also add Taking Back Sunday, Saves the Day, and Fall Out Boy (but stick to From Under the Cork Tree or their prior and IMO better album Take This to Your Grave).

As far as liking some albums off of Abbey Road i'd say:
George Harrison - All Things Must Pass
The Kinks - Village Green Preservation Society

Ive gotten into The White Stripes lately. 2 people sounding like an entire band is nothing short of incredible. To bad they broke up.

The Black Keys are another great duo.

                          Re: Music suggestions

For the OP, I'd recommend checking out at minimum Revolver for the Beatles since you like Abbey Road, though I think really there whole collection is worth it. I'm not too good suggesting newer bands since I don't like quite a few of them, so I can only agree about the White Stripes and Black Keys.

But I'd throw in Wolfmother as well as one of my favorite ones, Heartless Bastards. The Kills Blood Pressures is another good one.

But being biased towards classic rock I'd tend to suggest those older ones but I'll hold off. :P

Totally agree, TGA is probably my favorite band, and has been for the past 3 years. Seen them a few times in concert, and it is unlike anything I have ever been too. Def. check them out.
