Imo if he can keep it sorta like when he worked on shows like Dexter's Laboratory and Johnny Bravo that'd be fine with me.

I'm with Aerobee on American Dad being the only good show he has left. I'd also be for Watson's idea with that show.

        Don't know about this though.

This is a horrible idea. It's bad enough there are already 3 versions of Family Guy in rotations - Family Guy, Cleveland Show & American Dad - but now an iconic franchise like the Flinstones is going to get ruined.

But where I think this will be a fail is in the fundamental aspects of the shows dynamics. The Flinstones is based on the Hooneymooners which is based on the values of past America where there was mutual love & respect for family & the significant other where as the McFarlane franchises revolve around the exact opposite. I'd hate to see Fred simply degrade or talk down to Wilma much like Peter does his wife because it's not playing to the true essence of the characters. Or I'd hate to see Fred reduced to a complete idiot much like Peter where as Fred is really based on the working class Joe who's slightly ignorant to the world.

Seriously... showing the whole video for Dancing in the Streets?? C'mon.

I agree with all you that posted American Dad is the only show of McFarlane's that is entertaining anymore. Spot on.

I really hate the term "reboot" when it comes to movies.

I think it's a good term if a franchise has been using one status quo for a very long time and thus is rebooted to fit the times or whatnot.

If it can work for comics surely it can work for other media.

BTW if McFarlane's Flintstones has Fred and Barney actively hating on each other and treating their wives like crap i'll be disappointed but not surprised.

The more I think about this, the less sense it makes and the less chance it has for being a good "reboot" of a classic cartoon/sit-com. MacFarlane already has 3 shows based on the same formula, why does he need a fourth? Much less a fourth that has such a rich legacy and classic, timeless status.

Yeah, I used to really enjoy Family Guy and American Dad, but I stopped watching both in the last few years, just became stale and repetitive.
