Neil Gaiman's "American Gods" Novel to be HBO series
Produced by Tom Hanks and his Playstone Production company, and will be six seasons long.

Each of the six seasons will be of 10-12, hour-long episodes with a budget of around $35-40 million per season, targeted to debut on the cable powerhouse in 2013 at the earliest [...] American Gods will be effects-heavy to do justice to the awe-inspiring power of the divine beings. "There are some crazy things in there. We'll probably be doing more effects in there than it's been done on a television series," said Goetzman.Tags: None -
Re: Neil Gaiman's "American Gods" Novel to be HBO series
This is surprising. This definitely is not a story that I would have ever expected to be adapted for live action. HBO is the place for it though, I trust them to do it right. I would love to see a couple of my other favorite authors, Neal Stephenson and Richard K. Morgan, have something of theirs brought to the small screen.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever. -

Wasn't a big fan of the book (I found it slow and a little too precious), but I'll give it a shot. Must be greatly expanded from the original material if it's getting 6 seasons: seems strange for HBO to turn a 500-page book into 60+ episodes whereas Game of Thrones gets only 10 episodes per season to rush through a string of 1000+ page doorstoppers.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Re: Neil Gaiman's "American Gods" Novel to be HBO series
HBO + a big budget + Hanks + Beantown liking it (we seem to have almost identical taste in movies and tv from what i have seen) means I'll be keeping an eye out for this one for sure.
Just out of curiosity it says the budget is 35-40 mil per season, anyone know how much a normal HBO type show would cost per season (True Blood, Entourage etc)?Comment
