    Cutting the cable cord

So my cable company has raised our rates, and I have finally had enough. I would like to cut the chord in favor of Netflix and Hulu Plus. The only drawback I can see is the lack of live sporting events.

I have been trying to explore the possibility of ESPN 3, but from what I can tell I am out of luck because my cable company does not participate in that service. Is there any way that I can pay for the ESPN 3 service myself, or are there any good sites for streaming live sorts LEGALLY? I am having trouble finding anything. Thanks again for any suggestions.
