    Your Public Library

    I love my public library.

Free 5 day DVD rentals. Thousands of movies, including TV series, documentaries, foreign films. And of course free books. If they don't have what I am looking for, I can request it from another library in my county.

This year they added blu-rays and video games! Also free.

The only downside is I may have to wait a little extra for a new release. But I don't mind at all. There is always something else to watch and the savings are substantial.

Anyone else taking advantage of their library for movies/media?

I live in a fairly congested and highly taxed suburban area (Nassau County, NY). I was wondering what kind of media selection there is in public libraries in smaller and larger communities?

    Re: Your Public Library

I'm old school. I still go to my public library for...books. Yeah, they do have some DVD's and music CD's, but it's a small branch (and I like it this way). Just the local library in the neighbourhood. That's the way it should be.

Sure I can go to the large branches (like the main branch in the downtown that has...everything), but I still prefer my small branch.
    My Specs:

    ZX Spectrum
    CPU: Z80 @ 3.5 MHz
    GPU: Monochrome display
    RAM: 48 KB
    OS: Sinclair BASIC

I rented blu rays from the public library when i lived in Columbia, SC. Had a great selection since it's the biggest public library in the state.

Used redbox when i wanted to see a new release.

        Re: Your Public Library

I've used my local public library (in Copenhagen, Denmark) for books, CDs and DVDs for a long time now, but this year they've included Blu-ray movies and as a brand new feature; streaming of movies for free

I've been living without any physical media (books, CDs, DVDs etc.) for a while now, so I love the addition of streaming from public libraries. It's not the newest movies, but they have some pretty good movies and tons of documentaries and short movies. It's free, so I can't really complain
