    Gaming PC: Advice Needed.

In light of my PS3 kicking the bucket and Battlefield 3 being right around the corner, now seems as good of time as any to finally get another good gaming pc. I've had several computers and purchased a few (my lap top is only a few months old), but I don't know much about building/buying a good gaming rig.

I know building one and being patient and checking for deals is the cheapest route, but I don't have the patience and I don't know what I'm looking for really.. I just know the basics.

I'd like to buy one, if I could find a good one for around $1000 or so.

Is this even possible ? I've checked ebay and some other sources and found some gaming rigs for around that price, but most don't even come with any operating system installed. I also see so many different specs that I get confused and don't know what's a good deal and what's a rip off.

    Any suggestions guys ?

I'm looking to be able to run some pretty good games, like the new Battlefield coming out.

    Build it yourself.......cheaper that way.

    All you need to know:

    6GB of RAM

    Quad core or higher CPU

500 series Nvidia card or 6600 series Raedon card

    800 watt Power supply.

For $1,000 you can get something pretty badass. I built my PC on newegg for $750 NewEgg three years ago and it can still run newer games pretty well. So you are in a really good spot at $1,000.

          Re: Gaming PC: Advice Needed.

Yeah, from what research I have done, it seems building one is my best bet and I can get out a lot cheaper. I'm not the best with electronics, the most I've ever done is add extra memory to my old desktop.

I'm sure it's not that hard, if I could just see how it's done.

Any suggestions on some video tutorials or is it one of those things I should be able to figure out once I look at everything I have.

I'm not an idiot, I just don't want to mess anything up. I'm sure if I build a Chevrolet and Honda engine and can repair 360s and PS3s (I think I've finally found how to fix mine and may have it going again soon) I should be able to swing putting something together like this.

I can google and search all day long, but I'd rather ask people from OS.

That website is a huge rip off.......You over paying and everybody I ever known to order from them had to open up the case and connect stuff themselves because those people don't even connect everything inside of the tower.

Just go to Youtube........tons of good quality videos on there from PC Magazines and PC oriented websites that show you step by step of how to install things into a PC and how to build a PC from scratch.

My dad's last PC came from them. Long customer service wait times, and just a bunch of issues with the PC.

I've bought 2 gaming computers from cyberpowerpc.com. They have reasonable prices, but I've heard complaints about them.

Still though, if you don't want to build your pc yourself you can't do much better for the price. Both times I didn't clear $1,000 and received some quality specs. My first one I had for almost two years and then it developed some major overheating problems, but I'm not sure it can be blamed on them after that length of time. I've had this one for almost 3 years now, no major problems, and my specs can still run any game on the market.
