    Google search virus

I think I have some virus or spyware affecting my google search results. When I search for something on google, the results come up, but instead of linking to the result, I get something like this:

I ran all my anti virus stuff and it didn't help.

    Anyone know anything about this?

    Re: Google search virus

    I had the same thing.

I found a download that got rid of it.

Page 1 of 4 - Google Search Redirect - posted in Am I infected? What do I do?: Whenever I search on google, every once in awhile it redirects to something like http:// 64 dot 111 dot 211 dot 172 or find-fast-answers.com. At first I ignored it, thinking it was going to be easy to remove, but that has not been the case. I tried running Spybot, Malewarebytes, and Avast! already [all in safe mode.] They each found something, but it didn't remove the redirect. Also, this happens in BOTH...

About halfway down it has a download called GooredFix. I'll try to link the download but I'm not sure if it'll work otherwise you can just find it there. http://jpshortstuff.247fixes.com/GooredFix.exe

It got rid of it but It ended up coming back 2 days later for me. I used it again and it got rid of it for good. It happened about a week ago and I haven't had troubles since.

Also I was getting my google searches redirected via a website called findfastanswers and it was bringing me to stuff like yellowbook and other sites. I'm not positive if you have a slightly different virus and if what worked for me will work for you.

I had this to. I updated all my virus and spyware stuff and just went into safe mode and ran them all. Took a couple hours, but it got rid of it.

Ok I just learned earlier this week that this has been happening on all the computers in my house hooked up to the same router. But when I use my laptop on a different network, it works fine. Any ideas?

You need to check the DNS settings in your router's configuration.

I'd say just completely reset the router to original settings. Then just go back in and put back all of your settings.

First, on your PC open a command prompt and enter ipconfig /flushdns and press enter. Then test a few Google searches.

If you know what your doing, go into your router (guessing it's a Linksys) and change the DNS settings to Google's DNS servers (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) and the problem should never happen again.

My friend's computer has this same issue. I tried fixing it last week but just gave up because the computer is mangled beyond belief.

Look in your "C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc" folder for a file called "hosts.ini". Open this file with Notepad, and there should only be one or two entries listed (stuff like "localhost 127.0.0.1") along with information about what the file is used for. If there is anything fishy looking in there, remove it. You might want to make a copy of the file before editing it.
