        Re: Blade Runner 2049

It is really hard to even form any opinion from a trailer. But the movie looks like it had a lot of excellent potential to be a worthy sequel.

I absolutely do not expect it to rival the original. It can't. Blade Runner screams 1982 but was so far ahead of it's time. This one IMO can't match the incredible retro goodness of the original.

However, I can view this movie as a stand alone yarn in the cannon. I will not compare this to Blade Runner. That will set up for a let down. I will go into the film and judge it on it's own merits of a stand alone movie.

I never expected a sequel ever, so this is a pleasant surprise from Ridley Scott. I hope it pans out and wow's me.

I am a huge fan of Blade Runner. So this should be cool.

It was nice to hear snippets of Tangerine Dreams stylistic original soundtrack. I wonder if they were part of this ones score.

What made Blade Runner so incredible for me was the soundtrack and atmosphere. In fact it was everything to me in that film. It is why I loved the Directors Cut so much more. They axed the Harrison Ford Narration and let the film's visuals and music breath and stretch out.

If this film captures that....that will be a huge step towards a successful sequel.

Yeah you have to look at it that way as the original is a classic & it would be very hard to beat it. Regardless I'm still looking forward to it.

Blade Runner is in my all time top ten, so I'm not expecting that level of greatness from this film, but the fact that it's being directed by Denis Villeneuve, director of Sicario, does have me hopefully that it will still be top shelf.

Wow, I had no idea Ridley Scott was not directing this.

This is the exact reason I'm not hopeful. I don't like Villeneuve and this his direction in Sicario was bad. Scott should have done it, it's not like they had to make the Aliens sequel AND this the same year! My ONLY hope is that Ridley's hands will be all over it as exec producer and I hope he 'interfered' quite a bit.

I was fine with Harrison Ford reprising his role as Indiana Jones in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Han Solo in Force Awakens but this has to be the last of his old roles to resurrect.
If Ford comes back for another round of Jack Ryan or Richard Kimble, count me out. Though I do see Ford will only be in about a third of 2049

                        Wait though.....I heard rumors of:

                        Regarding Henry II Henry’s Revenge.

(A highly underrated Ford film BTW...sappy and I love it).

In all seriousness. I am really looking forward to this film.

Can't stop thinking about this movie. So many powerful scenes.

Just saw these shorts and if you haven't seen the movie yet, watch these as it helps explain a couple things in the movie.

I saw this in 3D and was blown away. To me, it's one of those rarities where the sequel is better than the original. I always thought Blade Runner was over-rated though still a very good movie, just not Hall of Fame worthy, sorta like Steve Garvey Keith Hernandez Dale Murphy, of whom each would be in the Hall of Very Good, if there were such a thing. I dare say I enjoyed Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls more than the original Runner. But I did enjoy 2049 more than Indiana Jones 4.
