Lou Reed & Metallica Project (11/1)
Not sure what kind of album this is going to be, but there are 10 songs they recorded together and releases 11/1 here in the US.
The musical collaboration between Lou Reed and Metallica, "Lulu," is coming your way this Fall and this space will be your spot for all things Loutallica(!). We want to start sharing with you just how the "Lulu" project, recorded at HQ just a few short months ago, is coming together. As you can see this site is a work in progress and the plan is to build it before your very eyes. Please bear with us while we piece it all together!Tags: None -

Re: Lou Reed & Metallica Project (11/1)
This album is freakin nuts...............but in a good way. Just very different. I am not a fan of Lou Reed's talk singing at all, but there are some killer riffs on these songs. Somehow these songs work with Reed's kind of singing, but would of rather of had James singing. This seems more like an atmospheric type of an album. I do see a lot of people hating it, which I wouldn't blame anyone.
You can listen to the whole album on their site for free, releases on 11/1
I really like 'Iced Honey', the one song where the music and lyrics go well together. 'Cheat on Me' is another good one, damn song clocks in at 11 minutes. 'Frustration' is kickass, I would love for them to move towards songs like 'Frustration' (again not the Lou lyrics). 'Dragon' is the heaviest on the entire album and feels like an extension of 'Frustration'. If I can find a way to tune out most of Lou's voice, there is some enjoyable stuff here from Metallica.
DJ, you'll probably really like this album since you like both Reed and Metallica.Last edited by CaptainZombie; 10-20-2011, 10:52 PM.Comment

Spill the beans, Enigma! I thought the band played really well on that tour; I saw them on Election Night back in 2008. The Sword opened and killed it as well.Currently Playing:

I saw them on that tour. Amazing. The Sword also dominated and their performance really got me into that band. Down also played..... Man, they are not my thing.Comment

Re: Lou Reed & Metallica Project (11/1)
Just listened to a bit, impossible to listen to.
Seems like some of that mishmash stuff that people do, transposing vocals and music that aren't supposed to go together.
Argh. Sad thing is the backings sound pretty good. Maybe someone will be able to remove the vocals from this so we can have (basically) a Metallica instrumental album? Is that possible?
EDIT: Just listened to some of "Dragon" too, and all I can come up with is that its a damn shame that that music is blown on this project when it could have been a ****ing awesome track for the next actual Metallica album.Last edited by TheMatrix31; 10-21-2011, 03:33 PM.Comment

Re: Lou Reed & Metallica Project (11/1)
Some lyrics from this album:
NSFW
Spoiler"Waggle my *** like a dog prostitute coagulating blood"
"Your (couldn't understand word) is like a colored man's ****, spurting blood"
"I'm a woman who likes men, but this is something else"
"The taste of your vulva, everything on it. The hair on your shoulders. The smell of your armpit"
"Spermless like a girl. Like a girl. Spermless like a girl. I want so much to hurt you, marry me, I want you as my wife. Spermless like a girl. More man than I. I want you so much, to hurt you. I want you as my wife. Crustacean, is my lexicon of hate."

The one good thing about this is that it's not a Metallica album. They are actually writing material for their next album which is set to record sometime next year.Last edited by CaptainZombie; 10-21-2011, 03:45 PM.Comment
