    Staind - Seven (Aaron Lewis)

New album drops today. I'm thinking of picking it up while running some errands.

Unlike the previous two albums, they seem to have gone back to raw form (based on previewing the songs). It's not exactly the same as their first few albums, but I think a lot of fans will welcome this returning sound they're bringing, despite it only being ten songs in length.

I've listened to a few of the songs, but mostly the ones they've released to the radio. It sounds pretty good and I'm also considering buying it.

It will be the first album I've purchased in a while.

The album is definately their hardest since Break The Cycle, but it's not quite a full return. Some of the songs just feel forced such as "Wannabe" and "Paper Wings", where Lewis is cursing and screaming just because he can. Other songs like "Throw it all Away" feel like filler. That said, the two singles "Eyes Wide Open" and "Not Again", along with top notch ballad/closer "Something to Remind You", show what the group is capable of when the effort is focused. I can't see myself buying this as it's just not quite the return I was hoping for, but it's definately got some good tracks.

Thanks for the informative synopsis. I may just buy the tracks that are good then as you said.

That's pretty much what I was trying to say in my first post, as well. They are "back in style," but they aren't quite "back in form." Doing things just "for the **** of it" (such as cursing, which what I just quoted is a line from the song Save Me in their previous album) doesn't quite mean you're doing what you used to be doing.

All in all though, it still a pretty nice album. Every song is at least given some good thought, and not a single track falls short of 3:30.
