Help me decide-2012 Acura TL SH AWD or 2011 Infiniti G37X.

I may be buying a new car tomorrow and I'm on the fence. I can get both for about the same price. They're both new (the slightly redesigned Acura 2012 models came out in March and don't have that ugly big *** grill anymore), handle great, have over 300HP and are AWD. From what I've read both seem pretty reliable.

Options and gas mileage are similar so the deciding factor is looks. What would you get?

They are both nice cars, and both are not hefty repair bills (after warranty, etc) compared to European luxury.

Personally I would go with the Infinity.

I just think they look nicer, and are built on the nice racing inspired platform that has skyrocketed Nissan in the performance world.

Acura just bores me now since having owned a bunch through the years.

I just think they look nicer, and are built on the nice racing inspired platform that has skyrocketed Nissan in the performance world.

Yeah some friends keep telling me to get an BMW 328 or Mercedes C Class (it's one of those prestige things which I could care less about). I'm buying rather than leasing so purchasing a Euro car is a risky proposition once that warranty runs out. I've seen some nightmare repair bills with some of those cars once they hit about 5 years old. Yeah they drive beautifully but you are getting alot more power for the same price with the Japanese alternatives and I would rather have the extra power than the extra prestige.

I'd definitely go with Infiniti. My bro has gotten an Infiniti for his last 3 cars. G35 coupe, G37, and now the M.

Bad *** cars, man.

What you said is true , but the 328i is one of , if not the most reliable German luxury car on the market and probably the most reliable bimmer model.

Congrats Seymour, both great cars, whatever you get-I'd go with the Infiniti.

I'd prefer the Dodge Challenger and it's cheaper, but we have different tastes.

Yeah I'm kinda partial to the Challenger myself too but I am driving one. But I'd go with the Infiniti.

Thanks for the opinions guys. I should be buying tomorrow and it looks like I'm leaning toward the Infiniti. While the TL was fast, that Infiniti 3.7 engine is intoxicating and has this really nice growl. I think also the Infiniti dealer is a little more willing to take a little more off the sticker price. My insurance will be cheaper with the G37 over the TL even though the G37 is running 23 more HP. Go figure.

And I do love that Challenger but I need the AWD for the Toronto winters, a functional backseat and half decent trunk space or I would be looking at that or the G37 coupe in a heartbeat.

Yeah my wife gives me until Xmas before I end up losing my license because that car demands to be driven fast. God I wish we had a stretch of highway with no speed limit like the autobahn in Germany.

I'd avoid watching Top Gear (UK). You might start getting ideas.

It is not just cause it is an Audi either... the Volkswagen's are just as expensive to repair, since they use the same parts. Even though the car is a "less expensive" line to purchase.

I had a custom BMW 3 series (M3)... it was a 2002 BMW "330xi" Sedan... basically an "Alpina".

I got it wholesale through a friend, where it was a one owner car, still had a 5 year BMW extended certified pre-owned warranty on it... custom built, "European Delivery". Meaning the guy who bought it, went to Germany, had the car built to his liking, and took it on the Autobahn, then brought it home. Usually it works out to be cheaper through a dealer to do this shockingly (even after the plane ticket and hotel stay).

I guess you get a crazy discount. Anyhow, the car had a beefed up transfer case (basically built up X5 one)... M3 motor and transmission, seats, etc ... all in "all wheel drive", which M3's did not come in. Nor did they make the sedan that year.

But when you go out there they let you pick what you want it appears.

Anyhow, the car was rare, but I was so glad it had that BMW warranty. Cause when there was an issue here and there, crank sensor, etc... I seen the price of parts on the printouts, and WOW!

Needless to say they are gorgeous cars, some of the best handling in the world... but expensive to repair.
