    Re: Logitech Harmony remotes

I have the 650 and as others have alluded to...it constantly resets. If it falls more than 6 inches and makes contact with any surface (even a couch), it will reset and you have to hit about 10-12 buttons to get it back to functioning...not a big deal if it happened once a month or whenever the batteries were changed, but it probably happens at least every other day...takes all of 20 seconds, but still annoying for a $50 remote (got it at BB on black friday).

From what I've heard the connection with the batteries to the unit isn't very sturdy and these sudded movement cause it to lose contact for a split second and you then have to go through the reset process....I've heard you can shove something in there to prevent the batteries from moving, but I've yet to try it.

Good remote otherwise for the most part, but occasionally it will not turn on/off a device the first time and you have to hit the help button to make it perform the action.

How do guys with the One or 1100 handle the Red,Yellow,Blue,Green buttons found on most DVR/DirecTV remotes? I use those buttons constantly and think it would difficult if those buttons didn't actual exist on an all in one remote.

Got the 700 last night and so far, I like it. Had a bit of an issue getting it set up in OS X 10.7 Lion due to Logitech not having 64-bit drivers for it (grrrrrr), but after about 30 minutes, got the workaround to work out.

Now I just need to customize my screens and some buttons; I want to remap the colored buttons to act as the A,B,X,Y buttons for the XBox. Also just trying to get used to how I have to access individual components that are outside of my current 'activity'. Not too difficult, just different.

Charged it up overnight last night, and will play with it more tonight.

They end up on my touch screen so I can use them (ie. when deleting a show I have to hit the yellow "A" key to confirm)...hasn't been a big issue for me.

I also think you could re-map them to a physical button somewhere as well, but I haven't personally done that so don't know for sure.

I have a 880. I just have them mapped to the screen buttons also. I also have buttons mapped to the DVR list, To Do List, etc as I have 8 buttons and multiple pages so you can program whatever you want.

              Hi guys-

Great to hear all of the positive responses on these remotes. I'm in the process of updating my home entertainment setup and have reached a point in my life where clutter is starting to annoy me so I'm looking at these universal remotes. I'm also in need of a soundbar for the audio so I'm trying to see if I can do both at this point.

So that leads to my question...I like the 900 and its RF capability but I can't see getting that and the soundbar (feel free to make recommendations on that, too) at the same time. Is there anything else that the 900 offers over the One to justify an extra $100?

Also, I'm guessing that somebody out there has tried the One or the 900 with a DirecTV box...does that seem to work ok? How about with a smart TV? I just got the LG 47LW6500 and have found that I like it better than my PS3 for Netflix.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

If RF is big for you then, it's worth the upgrade. If not the 1 will do you just fine. I have owned the Harmony-1 since it 1st hit market. It's the BEST Harmony remote I've owned & I've owned a couple including the Harmony 550 which I still own as a bedroom remote.

I have no experience with how they control Directv as I'm a FIOS Subscriber

Thanks, I wouldn't say RF is "big" for me just kinda nice to have. If it was $30-50 more, I'd spring for it and budget accordingly.

I have the 880 and it works great for controlling a DTV. I had to setup the LCD panel to add buttons for the colored buttons on mine and also a button for List. Its great that you can add how many buttons you want to the LCD list and setup macros to do other stuff also. You probably don't need the color buttons anymore though as DTV is moving away from them.

I have the 650 and love it. It's my first fancy universal remote so I may be easily impressed, but I have all my devices setup on it including my HTPC and makes life easier.

I've had the 880 since 2007. I've gone through TV upgrades and AV receiver upgrades and this remote has stayed with me everytime.
