    Video Card RAM Q...

Got a question for anyone who can help with it...

This topic came up when the System Requirements Lab site gave me a reading of 750 MB of video memory for my Radeon 5770 video card. It was suggested that I shouldn't take that as gospel, so I decided to look into it a little more. Turns out that every piece of documentation both in print and on my computer shows the card has 1024 MB of video memory. Except for one - and it's that one that has me the most concerned - DxDiag.

    Code:
Card name: ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series
           Manufacturer: ATI Technologies Inc.
Chip type: ATI display adapter (0x68B8)
               DAC type: Internal DAC(400MHz)
             Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_68B8&SUBSYS_25431002&REV_00
         Display Memory: 749 MB
       Dedicated Memory: 1010 MB
          Shared Memory: 3835 MB
           Current Mode: 1600 x 900 (32 bit) (60Hz)
           Monitor Name: Generic PnP Monitor
          Monitor Model: HP 2009
             Monitor Id: HWP2828
            Native Mode: 1600 x 900(p) (60.000Hz)
            Output Type: DVI
I have the whole DXDiag report, but I assumed this to be the important part. I'll post any other part of it that's needed.

I assume "display memory" to be what SysReqLab saw, and why it reported as 750. My question is why did DXDiag only see 750 MB - is DirectX not using the entire capacity of the card?
