Happy birthday to Nirvana's "Nevermind" album...

Twenty years ago today, music changed a bit forever.

Weird, I been listening to that album the last two days without knowing it was the anniversary.

It damn sure does. I remember buying the cassette when the album first came out when I was in the 6th grade like it was yesterday.

Such a great album. I just listened to it last week again, and I'm still amazed by it. It couldn't have come along at a better time.

I was a freshman in high school when this album came out, damn I'm old. I remember preppy girls starting to wear Nirvana shirts trying to look grunge, never worked but it was amusing.

              Sent from here to there.

I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

Not only a bit, this album release was instrumental in killing the popularity of hair metal bands as we know it.

This album still holds its own in 2011.

Could listen to Lounge Act over and over......

This album came out just as Guns N Roses were breaking up. Nevermind is responsible for opening me up to punk music. Never wanted to hear a guitar solo since.

GNR are still one of my favorite bands though.

Lounge Act remains one of my favorite Nirvana Songs. I was obsessed with them when I was 8-9 years old, even though Kurt had already died a year prior. Wish I was a few years older and could have appreciated them when they were still around.

No it didn't, Guns and Roses had already killed hair metal bands several years before Nevermind came out.

Guns was a dirty hair metal band that played good music. This pic shows the heavy hair band influence in their early days.

When Nevermind was released that was the end of hair metal
