Sony patents biometric PS3 controller and handheld computer..

    Reacts to sweaty hands....

The patent application itself includes multiple usage ideas: Recognizing tense muscles to power a shield; weapon aiming/accuracy; background music changing with heart rate/sweating; and difficulty adaptation based on heart rate.

It’s someplace the gaming industry has wanted to go for years, considering it’s the best way to make sure your players are involved, and yet also be able to cater content to their level of attentiveness.

A biometric controller could do away with extraneous on-screen data to create a simpler environment that puts content in front of power bars, special ability triggers, or other notifications that can take the eye away from the action.
Crazy, though we may not ever see it.

If it adapts difficulty based on heart rate, I'll never convert a 4th quarter 4th and goal again.
