    Video card and motherboard question

My mom's video card when out on the PC my brother built her, actually the fan was just really loud so it was easier(so we thought) to just replace the $50 thing with another cheap one.

I KNEW we needed to look for an older model card because the mobo only has PCI-E x16, but my brother has a masters in CIS so he thinks he knows everything and assumed any card would work. I should have known better because I know more about this stuff then he does.

We got this card at Fry's because with a mail in rebate it was $15 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127557
I can't get picture through the DVI or VGA. I'm just assuming that the BIOS can't recognize the new 2.1 technology.

Any suggestions? Her other card works, the fan just barely spins and it loud.

Might just be a defective card you bought. Stuff like that is quite common. Did you update the drivers for the card ? From the website not the disc.

I get absolutely no video at all from it. VGA or DVI outputs.

Yeah sound like a defective card to me, since it should work with that motherboard. Just return it and get another one.
