Bold is what it should replace.

    '00- Requiem for a Dream

    Winner: Gladiator
Other Nominees: Chocolat, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Erin Brokovich, Traffic

'04- Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

    Winner: Million Dollar Baby
Other Nominees: The Aviator, Finding Neverland, Ray, Sideways

    '08- The Dark Knight

    Winner:Slumdog Millionaire
Other Nominees: Benjamin Button, Frost/Nixon, Milk, The Reader

Haven't seen Milk, Frost/Nixon or The Reader so I can't say what should have been replaced. But I thought it was Best Picture.

        Yep....

I think Se7en's problem was that the material and the way it was handled in that movie was too much for the voters at that time. The Oscars have traditionally been very conservative about these things though that has waned in the last few years.

        My pick: Wall Street (1987)

        The nominees that year were:

Broadcast News, Fatal Attraction, Hope and Glory, Moonstruck

        Winner: The Last Emperor

I think Wall Street could've taken the place of Hope and Glory or Moonstruck.

Sorry...Sean Penn has become quite the tool.

Honestly I wouldn't know what wouldn't deserve it. The only ones I've seen from that year are Benjamin Button and Slumdog. Don't plan on watching the others either.

What? I didn't realize Wall Street wasn't nominated.

Yeah Se7en might have been a bit too much but remember it didn't even show

Well if you think Sean Penn is a tool your politics usually oppose his.

That being said mine don't, but I didn't like his self righteous defense of Jude Law at the Oscars. Chris Rock made a harmless joke at Law's expense and Penn felt a need to make a bigger deal of it then had to be.

Some old ones Psycho in 1960 and 2001 in 1968

And some of the years that people mentioned I'd take empire of the sun or Full metal jacket over wall street in 87 for being left out and in 95 the usual suspects would get the nomination IMO before seven

                    2012 (or I guess it'd be 2013 Oscars for the year 2012):

Should Be - The Dark Knight Rises

Nominees - Who cares, you know it won't get nominated.

                    Winner - Not TDKR.

If the field is still 10 nominees next year, there's no chance it won't be nominated.

1992 -- Explain to me how Spike Lee's Malcolm X did not even get nominated (though Denzel got an acting nomination). Winner was Unforgiven, which I love, but the other four nominees were The Crying Game, A Few Good Men, Howard's End, and Scent of a Woman.

1989 --Spike Lee arguably robbed again, this time for Do The Right Thing. Driving Miss Daisy won. Other nominees: Born On The Fourth Of July, Dead Poet's Society, Field Of Dreams, My Left Foot. I'd concede that DtRT isn't maybe as **** and Best-Picture-y as Malcolm X, but then again, the actual nominees are probably a weaker field.

1991 -- I'd have to put Boys N The Hood in the discussion. Just a great movie, and didn't even get nominated. Nominees that year were Silence Of The Lambs (eventual winner, and yeah, it was great), JFK (pretty decent, Oliver Stone always gets the love), Beauty And The Beast (good kids' movie, but really?), Bugsy (average), and The Prince of Tides (vomit).
