Meh. People don't have to see it, so I don't see the problem with it being screened in the US. NC-17s might be catching on this year. At least Shame is getting some great buzz.

My friend saw it a while back, and he said as long as you read the Wiki summary first, the visuals become extremely less disturbing, because it's the content itself that disturbs you more.

Even still, that article was enough for me to pass on it. One light I'll shed on it though, after I remember seeing the red band trailer, was that the production value on this film was actually relatively high. This didn't seem to be some cheap, amateurish run-of-the-mill student project turned global. If marketed correctly, people will see it as they saw Hostel, especially if word of mouth will be about how disgusting it is, as opposed to how horrible it is. People like disgusting.

I did this. Though I have to say, I'm pretty desensitized by gore so it probably wouldn't have done too much damage to my psyche either way. Just an utterly ****ed up movie, nothing "arty" about it.
