Richard Gere/ Topher Grace Movie-What Happened?

OK, The Double starring Richard Gere and Topher Grace had a limited release on October 28th. It made less then $100,000 at the box office and got a 14% on Rotten Tomatoes. It is now scheduled for a Jan 31st release on DVD.

Has this treatment ever happened to a film with a fairly major movie star (Gere)?

Given Topher's last atomic size bomb (Take Me Home Tonight) his career isn't looking all that promising.

I saw a post on yahoo the other day about some movies that came out, some not even lasting 10 days in the box office, netting under 20K. There were some bigger names in some of those movies, I will try and find that article and link it

I just saw the trailer youtube and gave away the twist in the trailer! haha, no wonder what happened because they told the whole movie in 2.5 minutes.

I'm sure there's another twist but come on.

I am not sure i would still consider Richard Gere a big time movie star.
Go to IMDB and check out the movies he has been in since 2004.

Some people did. It doesn't change the fact that the film made under $8 million. Hardly anybody liked Jack And Jill (Adam Sandler) and it still managed over $70 million domestic.

Yeah, but he's still relevant and a big enough leading man to get billed over such female stars as Jennifer Lopez, Susan Sarandon, and Diane Lane.

Regardless of whether there is another plot twist or not, whoever made that trailer should be banned from doing so on another FOREVER!

I just watched the whole movie in 2 minutes.
Cant believe they told the whole story in the trailer.

That looked like an interesting movie....Oh wait that was just the trailer.

I agree with Knight that was a terrible trailer in terms of how much it revealed. Hollywood wonders why people are pirating their stuff? Well that's one reason right there. Why spend the money when you're getting the whole movie in the trailers!

They really need to go back to the way they did trailers back in the '70s and '80s.

I've been harping about this around here for a long time. Trailers need to entice and tease, not reveal.

Yeah, that trailer was a movie CliffsNotes.
