I bet they lose SVP but keep Beadle.

That would be pretty big if both left.

      Go NBCSN go!

ESPN bumped down a few notches to me again tonight. While watching a recording of the Suns/Spurs game, they spent like 10 minutes literally talking about trading Steve Nash, even while mentioning neither he nor the Suns want a trade and that there are no realistic scenarios. Typical ESPN, making people dumber and trying to build up resentment and talk.

No, Steve Nash will NOT be traded to one of the teams you slurp. No, it won't happen. So shut up.

If Rick Reilly decides to contribute elsewhere, I'd have no reason to ever be on espn.com. I totally agree that's it's more about the storylines than the actual sport. Somehow that got lost in the shuffle. I guess because they have shows for each sport (I.e nfl live) they think they're covering everything.

Yeah, I caught that too and was real annoyed by it. They did it the other night when Orlando was on, too.

            Re: Sports Media Discussion...

One other small change I haven't been a fan of with ESPN: the bottom line alterations. I used to use the bottom line as a provider of fact. If I saw a line that said, "Mark Price signed with Washington Bullets" I knew that Mark Price had just signed with the Washington Bullets. Now, it seems half of the information on the bottom line is just rumors and hearsay, as in "Mark Price tweeted that he's thinking about signing with the Bullets, but maybe not. Also, he had eggs for breakfast."

Again, I apologize for using this thread to air my grievances. I don't hate all sports media. I can't explain it, but I actually loved Pardon the Interruption. I think I may have just liked the idea of having a canned small amount of time to talk about each subject amongst two guys I actually don't mind listening to (while getting important highlights and happenings spliced in). I think I appreciate the sincerity, particularly in comparison to the forced arguments brought about by Skip Bayless, Around the Horn and company. I don't necessarily want to hear ten minutes of rumors and analysis on every game I watch. Sometimes, I just want someone to say, "Did you see that cat that was hiding in the baseball tarp yesterday? Here, watch it. How crazy was that? Is it crazier than a bear falling out of a tree? Let's discuss for 40 seconds."

I like the MLB Network. The Baseball's Seasons show is great (I wish there were more), and Hot Stove and Clubhouse Confidential are all great.

NFL Network is OK ... the NFL Films-produced stuff is great, but I'm not a fan of their in-studio show, aside from Rich Eisen.

I like most of what NFL Network offers. Aside from Michael Irvin....

                    Re: Sports Media Discussion...

I think ESPN will lose SVP but keep Beadle, expect Beadle to get a larger role similar to the expansion of Erin Andrews' role at the network. It's clear to me that Beadle is the new queen of the network and losing her would take a huge chunk of the younger audience away.

SVP leaving will have a big effect on the TV side but the damage would be most felt on the radio side which has been bleeding badly with the talent drain at the "Worldwide Leader". I mean Kenney's show was replaced by a show hosted by Mark Schlereth for cryin' out loud!

At least in the case of SVP there's a tailor made successor in Ryan Rusillo.

SVP leaving would be huge. I wonder where he would go? I love him and John Anderson hosting SC and I watched his radio show on ESPNews everyday before I started working.

I'm not the biggest fan of ESPN, but I give them a ton of credit with the 30 for 30 series and continuing it with their ESPN films productions. And College Gameday is still the best pregame show for any sport, in my opinion.

I agree with others though. I used to watch SC all the time for highlights, and now they have so many "experts" providing analysis that you might see 30 minutes worth of highlights in an hour long show. I've moved onto NFL/MLB network and NBA TV for highlights.

I think NFL-N does a great job but the only problem is that they OVER-analyze at times. There really needs to be more variety during the week. The one good thing though is that we have more information on every team in the league than we used to have 10 years ago.
