    *** American Idol: Season 11 ***

Here's a breakdown of the schedule for the first 2 months:

After watching a little bit of X Factor, I don't think AI is going away anytime soon anymore.

I think Seacrest doesn't get enough credit for the job he does on the show. He makes Steve Jones on the X Factor look like an amateur. I prefer the more scaled back performance we see on AI.

    Let the trainwreck auditions begin!

I was a pretty avid watcher of this show for several years. But last year, I just kind of lost interest and doubt I'll be tuning in very often to this season.

Maybe I'm getting too old, but it's hard to relate to 15 and 16 year-olds and even though they can sing, it's just not entertaining to here them sing a song that they know nothing about. The guest stars they bring on as mentors aren't intriguing to me...and I hate Jennifer Lopez

Love this time of year. I never watch anything other than all these audition rounds, but I can't wait. One of the few QT times I enjoy with my GF.

Love the audition rounds as well. Some years it's all i watch but sometimes during the auditions someone will spark my interest enough to continue watching.

Pretty impressive first episode to start the season.

          - Joe Magrane "How's Beantown?" Steven Tyler: "Hot, humid and happening just like your daughter". The daughter is 15 years old. Awkward.....

          - "Are you a runner?" Some people are going to say it was racist but I nearly fell off my couch

          - lol at Steven Tyler saying Yes before hearing the Bobcats singer sing.

She's more attractive on AI than on her NBA.com page

          - Steven Tyler is proof that as long as you are famous, girls will throw themselves at you. Tyler is one ugly mofo yet we heard all these young girls tonight say how hot he is

I was about to say that I realized it wasn't Simon that I loved on the show so much and that made AI, it was Ryan Seacrest. I think without him, the show tanks a little bit. I'm also glad they didn't just replace Simon with another British accent somewhere.

Brittany Kerr is a babe. I hope next time she sings, they don't cut her short before she hits her chorus lol.

EDIT: Had no idea she was already happenin'. That's always unfortunate (I love when AI is discovering talent, not just refocusing it).

I liked that David Leathers kid. He's the closest to young Michael as I ever heard. Also the last guy Philipp Philipps (lol) was really good too. That Thriller rendition was really good. He's got that Dave Matthews vibe going on.

I usually watch the auditions then come back for the top 12. I tried out X-Factor, but I just didn't like it as much as I like AI.

Sad to see the Bobcats dancer go but I love me some Heejun Han. It was funny watching him talk all sorts of smack about Cowboy behind his back only to tell him about it later.

A lot of talent this year. It's definitely the guys year.

                        My fave to win it:

Well it's obvious the judges aren't tougher this season.

Eben's cover of Set Fire To The Rain was horrible. He doesn't have the power in his voice to pull off a song like that.

The only 3 that stood out were: Phillip Phillips, Heejun Han, and Joshua Lidet. Chase Likens is in his own little world since he does Country. I think he's going to go far but I don't like his type of music.

It pissed me off that they got rid of Johnny Keyser, then teased us that he might return and instead reinstated that gargantuo dude. Way too much bass for my taste. I think they just felt sorry for having him leave without giving the world a chance on him. I bet J-Lo fought for him.

Anyway, currently I'm hoping for Colton Dixon to go as far as the Top 5. I don't really know if I have any other favorites yet. I was never quite sold on Phillip(s)... too much Springstein style for my taste, and while he's a good singer and amazing rhythmic guitarist and entertainer (and overall good guy with a great family as so it seems), they definitely overhyped him, and there are just some boundaries that he can't reach to deservedly make it as far as he's gone.

Let's see what the girls do, though. There's that one bigger chick who can just flat out belt any note that's thrown at her. I can't wait to see what she comes up with for her performance.

Without Simon there, I tend to FF through the judges responses, lol.

When their performances lacked quality, Simon put them in their place and it helped (from what I saw) because they fed off his criticism and improved for the most part.

Anyway, I'm surprised it took so long for the judges to point out (Randy mentioned it last night) that Phil Phillips is a Dave Matthews clone - I swear, his mannerisms on stage mimic that of Dave Matthews to a freakin' T!

Love DM so count me in as a Phil Phillips fan!

Also a fan of Heejun Han - how could you not root for this guy? Great talent and a complete crack up, lol! Always wondering what he's gonna say next...
