Just covering my ***. But actually, depending on what you're talking about, especially the music is copyrighted material and this is what all the policing is about. I tried to make a thread about this very thing but it got shut down here, albeit prematurely.

This is what the whole thing is about in the short run. Apparently more "formal" discussion is going to be held about this sometime in February.

Their founder was really known as "Kim Dotcom"?

That's terrible. They were by far the fastest of these things. TESnexus and all the other nexus' are fine (except the unafliated one for Saints Row),they've got their own servers, there were just a few larger mods on MU back when they had a limit.

Beatz, whose real name is Kasseem Dean, was not named in the government's five-count indictment.

The beatmaster, who married singer Alicia Keyes in 2010, was in recent discussions to take a high-powered job at Megaupload, but a final agreement was not reached, the company's lawyer told the Daily News.

"He was in conversations to be named CEO," lawyer Ira P. Rothken said. "His involvement in the company was highly attenuated. There were discussions and he was involved in a promotional video and in brainstorming future projects, but not much else."

Swizz Beatz's association with the cloud sharing site surfaced only recently after he and buddies Sean "Diddy" Combs, Kanye West and Will.i.am touted the site in a video that prompted legal backlash from the artists' label, Universal Music Group.

The four-minute clip, part of Megaupload's recent Dec. 9 relaunch, was all original material and not subject to ownership by UMG, Rothken said.

Has nothing to do with that and not everything about megaupload was about piracy...

Some of us used site to store and backup files...with the site gone..I've lost 3 years of PC mods, photo packs and backup documents and I paid yearly...I doubt if I'll get reimbursed on my card for that.

You are right, it wasn't all about piracy, they were also charged with racketeering and money laundering. Law enforcement shouldn't take into account if someone was foolish enough to use a site like megaupload as a backup solution when prosecuting a criminal enterprise.

You chose to give a sleazy company your money and got burned.

I'm surprised they lasted this long.

I think it's best if this thread gets closed before we start having to get rid of people.
