Re: Famous Movies you Haven't Seen

Too many to list. Movie's aren't in my top 3 priority list, so I don't really put a lot of time into them. I see maybe 2-3 movies a year in theater and watch maybe 2-3 at home each year.

I know this is the point of the thread but I can't believe how many people have posted that have said they haven't seen The Godfather.

... it's in my queue, I just was pretty underwhelmed by the first last summer so I haven't gotten around to it.

I havent seen any of the Godfathers. Only bits and pieces.
Mainly because I never got a chance to see it.
Didnt watch No Country for Old Men. But I have it somewhere and will watch it anytime between now and later/

Semi same with me. Such an epic movie. I guess me and you aren't badass enough to think we are to cool to watch it.

I thought everyone had seen Forrest Gump. You need to get on that ASAP.

Even though I am a major cinephile with some obscure tastes, I still consider The Godfather to be one of the best overall films ever made and certainly the greatest American film of all-time.

What I would like to see....is the guys who either can't be bothered with seeing some of the older great movies or consider them to be "meh"....what THEY consider a great movie.
It should have been a requirement to list your top 2 or 3.

My favorites are LOTR and The Godfather 1 & 2, followed by films like Amadeus and Saving Private Ryan, and then guilty pleasures like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, O Brother Where Art Thou, Moulin Rouge!, and others too numerous to list.

Just because it's old, or deals with "heavy" subject matter does not make a great film, and liking something only because it's old, said to be a classic by people on an internet forum, random critics, or on the AFI Top 100 is just laughable.

                    This.

I just kind of roll my eyes at folks who would rather watch Avatar for the fifth time than see The Godfather for the first.

It's worth seeing for the visuals and the overall style. The story is lacking, but it is a Cameron film so that's to be expected.

Well, see, it's kind of tough for me to do that. You might have seen the movies I listed in the "Movies you must watch" thread, and say you cut them to ten films, maybe only two would crack my top ten list. There's a difference between movies which I think are just objectively good versus my favorite films of all time.

For example, I never called The Dark Knight a "must watch" film, but I think it was more so because it was a sequel, and I'm an avid believer of "standalone" films being most recommended (although it works seeing it on its own, it's much better when seeing Batman Begins first).

But TDK is a must watch film simply for Heath Ledger's performance.

                                It's just a must-watch because A) it's Batman and B) it's ****ing awesome.

Also, A and B just happen to coincide with each other.
