Smart guards always get killed. It's a shame really. The only guards that get bypassed are the ones who are crappy at their jobs.

Was it explained how Stannis got back to Dragonstone? I thought he was surrounded by the Lannisters while fighting on the wall in the last episode.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

I thought he was on a wall fighting people too, but figured those were his own men pulling him back, rather than his enemies and that's why he survived.

                  This is what happened.

I thought it was a pretty good finale. It is just such an odd way to end a season with nothing really being accomplished. But that is pretty much all they can do. Thought the white walkers descending onto the camp of the nights watch was well done enough. It was the ending of ACoK that got me reading ASoS so fast that I was about 200 hundred pages in the fist night I started reading. This wait, is gonna suck.

Read a ADWD to find out more, but as stated above, no.

I liked the finale. Second season was more of a departure from the books than the first season for creative reasons and the scope and number of separate characters and plots in the second book compared to the first. For the most part I thought they did a great job, which my exceptions being Jon's plot and the lack of emphasis on Robb's war and his actions outside of his romance situation. Overall though, great season of TV and the wait for next season is going to be brutal.

                        Genius last scene, great cliffhanger.

One of the Walkers or Wights is clearly rocking a Stark Direwolf shield across his back in the final shot.

Am I the only one who was amazed at Tyrion showing his emotion with Shae? I thought it was amazing to see the character break down when up until that point he seemed too strong or rather too sarcastic to show his vulnerable side.

Growing up a dwarf, and the closest thing to a bastard in the eyes of his father, he had to rely on comical quips and sarcasm to get by. But a scar on his face brought him back to his less funny side and made him cry when someone showed him love regardless (maybe showed him sincere love for the first time). I thought that scene was amazing and was more complex than at first glance.

If the finale taught me one thing it is how to finally say "Valar Morghulis" after all of these years.
