Martin intentionally never has a POV of any of the Kings of Westeros (Robert, Stannis, Robb, Balon, Joffrey, and Renly).Comment

Re: Game of Thrones Season 2 (aka A Clash of Kings)
So I'm reading Storm of Swords.
Not gonna say anything remotely spoiler laden...but I will simply say this....
I recently reached the point in the book with the "event" that most everyone I'm sure said "WTF????!!!!!!" at.
I almost put the book down at that moment. I'm still stunned.
That "event" will be pretty damn powerful when it occurs in the series.

Re: Game of Thrones Season 2 (aka A Clash of Kings)
Just re-watched Blackwater for the millionth time and am I the only one who is a super fan of Stannis? Seriously, that's a bad mofo. I know he's presented as a kinda sorta villain and a bit of a dick, but when he was riding up to King's Landing on the front lines I can't help but think "that's a bad man right there" and then he ganks that guy's head off and just tears stuff up.
I never cared for him much until the show brought him to life (have read all the books) that actor does a really good job of turning Stannis into a badass.Kenny Bell with quote of the year: "I would play for Bo Pelini against Satan himself and a team of demons at the gates of the underworld."Comment

I'll tell ya a character who has really blossomed due to the TV series...Lord Tywin.
Even if you don't like Tywin...its hard not to respect him in the series. He's good in the book...but Charles Dance is PERFECT for Tywin in the series.
He's smart, he's cunning...and quite frankly..he doesn't take s*** from anyone...including Joffrey. You just get the feeling that he is always prepared, and always one step ahead of the rest. He also definitely FEELS like the true ruler of Westeros, with everyone else seemingly bowing to his will at all times.
Other than Tyrion, Tywin is my favorite "villain" in the books and the series.AUBURN TIGERS

I agree with that too. I think his conversations with Arya were awesome, definitely highlights of this season and made him so much more likeable.I'll tell ya a character who has really blossomed due to the TV series...Lord Tywin.

It's funny you day that, I've never viewed Stannis as a villain in reading. I mean based on none of them knowing about Dany he is the legitimate heir to the iron throne. I view him as a sympathetic character. No one respects him, he has/had the smallest army, as Rent said "No one wants your for their king...". So despite having the best claim he will probably never sit the iron throne and upon his death benefit known as nothing more than a little and traitor.Just re-watched Blackwater for the millionth time and am I the only one who is a super fan of Stannis? More sympathetic than villainous IMO.

Re: Game of Thrones Season 2 (aka A Clash of Kings)
I agree. I actually meant that he's kind of presented and viewed as a villain because of his attitude/reputation and Melisandre. I always like and root for him because even though his situation seems so desperate and he's constantly told that he doesn't stand a chance, he keeps on fighting because he thinks thats the way it should be. I think Stannis is one of the deepest, most interesting characters in the series and the scene on the final episode of season 2 where he kind of freaks out and realizes what he did to try and win the throne was so good. Just brilliant stuff from GRRM and the TV guys, enjoy ASOIAF so much. It's funny you day that, I've never viewed Stannis as a villain in reading. I don't think Stannis is really painted as a villain, just not very well liked, and his absurd stubbornness to a fault can be really frustrating.Comment
