Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
Well, placed my order for an XFX 7870 (free Bioshock and Tomb Raider), i5-3570k, and a couple of miscellaneous items.
Thanks for the shop runner tip.Last edited by Cyros; 03-19-2013, 09:47 AM.Comment

ex. if you are looking to play Crysis 3 or Far Cry 3 on ultra settings vs Awesomenauts or Chivalry on max settings = 2 different things.Comment

Personally, nvidia has been giving me fits. Back in 2011 I bought a 560ti to upgrade my GTS 250 and the driver kept crashing causing me to lose sound or my screen would go out when I started to play a video.
Sent the card back and when I upgraded drivers on the GTS 250 I had the same issue, and sometimes the driver wouldn't recover after the crash. Ended up just having to use an old driver to avoid the issues.Comment

What's the issue with ATI drivers?

Back in the early-mid 2000s, I had AMD when they were on top of the world as ATI. Then they started their downfall, and I actually lost a whole computer during one of their driver upgrades. That and the performance I've gotten with nVidia means I'll never go back to AMD unless there is an extreme reason to.
It's honestly a horse a piece, either way - AMD is known for driver issues with games, where if you ask some other people nVidia will have more issues with the same games. Just one of those things you gotta decide for yourself on.badComment

Yeah, the nvidia issues pushed me to AMD, but I could very well be back with nvidia next time I get a new card.Comment

I currently use an ATI card and the issue I have is that whenever there is a new version of drivers to install I have to completely uninstall anything related to the old driver set and then install the new drivers set from there. I have to use a special program I dl'd to get rid of everything ATI related.Comment

Case came in earlier today, about 4 days earlier than expected...looks awesome. Definitely sticking with Newegg for all my computer-related needs.Comment
