I was going back and forth between them and building on my own, you obviously can't beat their prices. Now that I built my PC my perspective has changed so I am in the build it yourself camp. The build process was fun and with the YouTube videos guiding me, I never once felt lost or confused. I also like being able to pick my own parts so I know that no POS components are in there.

On a side note, I won a pretty decent amount of change last night on football so I'm trying to make a move on Cyberpower this week.
Is there any specific motherboard I should go for?
I want to have a good entertainment/game machine.
What should I be on the lookout for as far as video card? I am set on GTX 650, is that good enough to run games and run them well?
i5 or i7? Also Should I shoot for 16GB memory?Comment

I get that part of it, I just don't think I am personally ready to do it.

Before you totally write off building yourself, I posted a great tutorial I found and I built my PC watching that guy. I followed every step, took my time, and it came out better than I expected. Watching Windows load up for the first time on a SSD made me giddy, it was a really great feeling of accomplishment and now I feel totally comfortable opening my PC and start tinkering. I would say, watch the video and if it still seems too hard, order online.
I will say this though, installing the fan controller was a B(itch)Last edited by Cusefan; 12-17-2012, 12:05 PM.My dog's butt smells like cookiesComment

I think for what I need it for I can go much cheaper but I want to future proof it and want to be able to, just in case, game heavily.Comment

i5. You will see no extra benefit with an i7 for what you want to do.
Same with the RAM. Go with 8GB and even that is probably overboard, but an extra 2 gigs is cheap enough to go ahead and add it.Comment

For just under $1100 almost 4 months ago I built an i5, 8gb ram, GTX 670, 128GB SSD, 2TB HDD, with a 23" monitor
As for ram, about a month ago I added another 8GB because Newegg had it on sale dirt cheap, and have seen no appreciable difference.Comment

That's the thing, I'm not sure what's an upgrade that's really not necessary. I guess 8GB will be just fine. They give a ton of options for motherboard, I just lefti t as the one they chose.
Same with power supply, what should I go with there?
EDIT: Nvm, I just found out if I look to the left, they help me out a lot.
Final question, would Wireless 802.11B/G Network Card: None or Wireless 802.11 B/G/N Access Point: None ...be necessary?Last edited by cjonesfan921; 12-17-2012, 02:20 PM.Comment

If I were you I was go with a CM 912(cheap and awesome), I5 3570k, 8G ram, ASrock z77 Mobo, gtx 660 TI, and a 650W power supply, that would be right in your price range. My dog's butt smells like cookiesComment

LOL, that's pretty much what I have now, with a different case. I5-3570k. ASRock Z77 Extreme 4, GTX 670, 650 W NZXT Hale 82 (Seasonic)
Side note, I went to take some pictures earlier and found out one of the fans died on my video card so now I have to RMA it back to MSI.Comment

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
The only thing I personally didn't like was the HAF 912 doesn't have USB 3.0... I know the mobo does, but I was to lazy to want to have to reach to the back or run a cable up for it.
When I went and built one on that site even the cheapest option it did liquid cooling. There is no reason for you to do liquid cooler. Just go with the first non-stock cooler.Comment

Still running my ASUS Laptop. Hooked up to my 50"
GTX560 w/3 GB
12 GB Ram
i7 2.3Ghz
500GB HDD (Will be upgrading soom probably)
So far it runs everything on high.
Currently playing FC3 and XCOM:EU
Today I cleaned up a lot of crap off the HDD and set up a seperate partition for just games. Uninstalled everything to re-install on new section.
After all is done I'll have FC3, XCOM:EU, Original XCOM games, ARMAII, Crysis, Crysis Warhead, BF3 Diablo 3 and Sims 3 installed. Have a ton of other STEAM games I've yet to install/complete.
If only an NFL game would come out on PC...Joshua:

That video card is okay. I bought it and it was an upgrade to my old one but when I did my overhaul of my system it is now the weakest part of my system. Also SSDs are amazing.Comment
