Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
I may shoot for the 660 then and just purchase. I don't want to look back now, just want to make sure I have everything I need. I'm not too familiar with this, I'm hoping I can wirelessly connect to internet and such. Also, I went with Windows 8 Pro, good idea?Comment

If you want to play your games without issues, go with 7. Next year you can up to 8 if you like.
The IT director here has 8 on his laptop and I feel I'm over there trying to fix issues once a week so it works with our apps. I'm running Server 2013 virtually over here at work and despise the GUI.
Usually I'm all over updates but passing at this one at home as well for now.Comment

I never buy latest windows. Always wait at least 2 years for it to stabilize and driver support to catch up. Running Win 7 (64 bit) right now myself. That and I abhor Metro. It's bad enough I have to deal with Metro UI on the XBox 360 console, no way I'm going to run it on a computer.Comment

It wasn't a choice on this one but yeah it blows that i can't get the drivers going. As.far as metro....there are ways around that for a classic windows interface. If that wad my only problem I'd have it made
By the way i added.some mods to nba 2k and now on the home screen the controller won't let me choose tasks on quick play.....it will for every other mode though
Weird....it's a wired controller. Any idea what it, may be
I bought a wireless logitec keyboard plugged it in and it works flawlessly.. Go figure

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
Finally putting together my newest build. Figured I'd throw it up here.
ASROCK 990FX Extreme4 Motherboard
AMD FX-8350 CPU
850W Corsair Enthusiast PSU
2x 7950 Gigabyte Windforce GPU's
500GB 7200RPM Main HD (Will be adding SSD soon)
Coolermaster Cosmo's Case
Thus far, I've paid $540 for all of this. I'm pretty excited about it. A LOT of wheeling and dealing on CL though, haha.Twitter - WTF_OS

Crossfired. Believe it or not, $380 was for the GPU's alone. I was able to get the rest of it for $160. Bought a Desktop for $200 that had the Power Supply, motherboard, CPU and RAM in it. He threw in a 965BE Processor, just needed to sell it as quick as possible. It also had a BD-Drive, and a GTX 9800. Sold the Blu-Ray drive, and Videocard, as well as the 965BE processor. Found someone who had 2 of the 7950's, made an offer, he accepted.
Now all I need is a nice SSD, and I'm set. May go w/ some liquid cooling, but everythings running really well and cool without right now. Have to do some cable management too.Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
How does this look for a basic cheap build? I'm pretty much wanting to get a decent upgrade to what I have, but have something that I can upgrade down the road as well without having to spend a whole bunch on a brand new PC. Would I be right in assuming that with this build I could just upgrade the CPU and graphics card and have a solid gaming computer?
Would this be capable of playing modern games on at least like medium settings?
CPU: Intel Pentium G860 3.0GHz Dual-Core Processor ($67.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: ASRock H61M-DGS Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($44.99 @ Amazon)
