Ahhh this brings me back to my first PC build..

I got everything hooked up/plugged in and was about to test it. I turn it on and see smoke coming from my brand new Athlon Thunderbird CPU. Why has this tragedy befallen me?!!! Well, as it turns out, I didn't attach the heat sync/fan properly and there were no automatic shut offs for exceeding high temps. So sad.

However!

I think i did get my cpu/mobo through newegg (maybe not, deff online somewhere) and whoever it was, they did replace the CPU for free (i paid shipping), but i may have neglected to mention that it was my fault...good learning experience nevertheless.

Lol I just posed the same question a few pages back. I think you'll be alright there 23 had his built from a site similar to that "ibuypower.com"

I highly suggest doing a test build out of the case as well - I had linked earlier how to do it. Don't have the link off hand, so my apologies there.

May have been. I used my graphics card boxes to prop it up on my table when I did mine. Just look up PC test build on google or something, there should be plenty of good results that come up.
