It's not hard at all to do it yourself. It's pretty much just following instructions which with the extensive YouTube videos out there makes it pretty simple.

Newegg is pretty much the most popular site to buy from. So your budget is $1,000. Do you need a monitor? Won't be hard at all to get something done for around that and be set for a while. I'll let others chime in on build specs. ZzZzZz.

I don't want to literally build it, I would rather just go through a supplier and customize it if possible, I know I'll be losing a little money but I don't trust myself with something like this. Saw this on slickdeals, just wondering if it was a good deal or not, or if anything on it is something that I should look to upgrade.

Essentially my question is what do I need to have in my computer to make sure it lasts me as long as possible and play all the games I'm gonna wanna play, now including The Witcher 3 and Battlefield 4. Any help would be really appreciated.

Side note: I already know I'm going to need more than 1 TB of storage. I just filled my 500GB drive in my PS3 with movies/tv shows and I have stuff that's not even including the rest of my movies and music.

Edit 3: Found a subreddit (there's always a relevant subreddit) for what I wanted. Found this build for someone with similar needs to me. How does it stack up for the price and would it be able to do what I need it to do (essentially just play games on max settings while remaining as quiet as it can). I never realized how important the quiet is until I had to deal with the obnoxious roar of my Xbox at 2 in the morning.

The second one is not bad, it will handle most games you throw at it. Not every game, mind you, because some games(like the Crysis series, Witcher 3 etc.) are just built to push your system to the limit. Those will need some tweaking of the settings to achieve best gaming performance but they will still look REALLY good. You can also overclock the GPU and CPU later on to squeeze out a little more performance.

That first one I'd pass on. The graphics card is entry level and not what you want for playable frame-rates on the newest games on High or Ultra settings. It comes with a 300W power supply and that is simply not good enough if you have the idea of buying that computer and upgrading the graphics card to a good one. A 1GB 7850 for instance recommends at minimum a 500W PSU. To upgrade to a 600W on that page (they skip from 460W to 600W) it would cost you another $100, but you can find 700W PSUs for under a hundred. These are the kinds of problems a lot of people run into when buying pre-builts. Yeah, I would skip that first one altogether.

If you're willing to build yourself though, I would always recommend that you do that. Newegg has do-it-yourself videos uploaded onto Youtube and has DIY combo deals on their site. The Intel Budget Solution looks like a good deal. Leaves you with $401 for your graphics card, OS and a cheap optical drive if you want one(Does your budget include a monitor or do you already have one?). I know it seems intimidating for a first timer but I think you'd be surprised at how easy it is.

so I got the EVGA 770 last night and I know it doesn't really matter, but this card just looks like it belongs in my build. also I love how it doesn't sag at all, it snaps into place and the whole damn thing just looks sweet... also registered the card so I am getting a free backplate for it. ...
oh and most importantly , it kicked the crap outta Battlefield and GFE seems pretty sweet.

This is my main monitor, I also have a 2nd dell 19 inch monitor which I keep Precision X on (to monitor GPU temps and fan speed) as well as my Ventrilo client to see who comes in and out of chat.

                      I'm using this.

I still have my old 24" LG but it's power supply board is busted. I'm contemplating selling it or getting it fixed and using as a second monitor.

Are 24 inch monitors the standard way to go nowadays?

hate downgrading the size but I will if it works well

Ive have a 24 in Acer, i was using an older 32 flat screen and it just took up too much space on my desk. The 24 in just feels better

I don't have enough room for that...

                            So I use 3 21'' monitors.

there isn't really a standard, use what feels like it would be the most comfortable.
the only real standard is making sure it is a 1080p monitor and it is nice to have a HDMI port on the thing... (mine does not have one, its not a big deal)

If you do want to get fancy I would suggest some of the new IPS monitors... some of those are just silly.
