Did your issue get fixed after hooking up with DVI?

Re the fan controller question, it depends on how much noise your fans make and how much you can stand. A fan controller lets you lower the speed which equals less noise but also less airflow. Without a controller your fans run at max speed. If they're making too much noise for you then yeah, you could look into getting a controller, or you could just get better, quieter fans.

You could also get PWM fans and let the motherboard control them, not sure if the motherboard supports controlling regular fans.

Finally! I have the PC I've always wanted. HP had a Pavillion HPE-1360t on sale for $699.00. Started out there, ended up at 899 with a 600watt PSU and an upgrade to the 3770k. Got a Sandisk Extreme 240 GB SSD. Also just got my 750 GB Momentus XT hybrid drive. Going to boot from SSD, capture my Elgato HD capture footage on the Hybrid and use the standard 1TB HDD for normal stuff. I had bought a GTX 570 SC for use with Vegas, but it tanked after three days. It's RMA'ed to EVGA. Did some more research and I ordered a GTX 670 SC 4GB. I also signed up for Adobe Creative Cloud, which I get for $19.99 a month because my wife is a teacher. Photoshop, After Effects, Premier Pro, etc. 17 programs as of now. Ready to play!

This was my first time using newegg and it's sure as hell the last. I have no idea why they have a good rep, they've been nothing but completely terrible. They're almost as bad as Sony. Must be an amazon type situation where .com and .ca are run entirely different because there's no way they should have the good repuation they do.

Looks good to me. I got a similar Asus years ago and have had it fall off my table and still work lol. I love the monitors with speakers, they aren't amazing but I don't want stand alone PC speakers anymore.

that is similar to the one I got, except I got the version without built-in speakers. mine does have audio out though if needed(if you use HDMI as input).

I haven't had any issues with it. the viewing angle is actually better than other LCD monitors/TVs I have.

What is good response time to stop LED monitors from looking like garbage when gaming?

How good is 5ms compared to say 2ms

Decided to bite on the monitor. Amazon prime comes through with a Wednesday delivery date despite ordering late at night.

That one is mighty nice as well

I remember I bought a vizio LED 22 inch when they came out. It was real nice and nice sized, actually pefect for my computer stand at the time. When I tried to play 2k on it, going up the court looked like complete rubbish... it was so blurred out it made me sick.... thats when i packed it up and took it back and picked up the Vizio I have now 32 incher.

I finally get to get that 2nd monitor I've wanted this time..partially a fathers day gift, and my hopes one day is that I can work from home and get to use both screens for work at the same time... I have an office type set up

I'm using this as my monitor. Love it to death. I just use it as a monitor, nothing else. Don't use the speakers, one HDMI port going to my Xbox, other one goes to my PC.

I have a potentially stupid question. I am looking at fans and fan controllers. If a fan has an RPM rating of "1200 (+/-10%) RPM" does that mean it cannot be controlled at all? Even if connected to a controller. I see other fans that have "RPM: 600 ~ 1600 (+/-10%) RPM" that have a 4 pin connection that are PWM.

So can I throw some fans with 3 pin connectors onto a fan controller and be able to change the RPM?

Fans that list one RPM are standard fans, you attach 12v and they run at rated speed.

Fans with an RPM range are PWM fans, these fans are controlled by using pulses of electricity over the fourth wire to tell the fan how fast to run, the lowest being the slowest PWM setting, the fastest being full.

Fan controllers typically only use standard fans, and they control the speeds either by pulsing the electricity (essentially turning the fan on and off really fast) or they limit the current to slow the motor down. I don't think there is any discernible difference between the two methods once applied.

PWM fans are moreso for connecting to a motherboard's connectors and using the motherboard to control speeds based on it's temp sensors.
