    You really have to know what you're doing to build your own though.

    Im studying CompTia A+ right now and I see so many processors that Intel and AMD went through its crazy

      After 3 hours of transferring everything over, this case is awesome but a darn nightmare if you aren't using a smaller PSU with the shorter cables. I can't properly close the sides with this PSU, so I'll be sending this HX750 off to ebay and gonna order a Silverstone Strider 550W PSU with the PP05 short cable kit.

        How is the re-sell market on video cards? I had been thinking about upgrading from my 7870.

          Pretty reliable and stable, you can always find high school and college kids looking to upgrade on the cheap. So lets say you paid $200 for a card, you can easily sell it for for around $150. Put it up on ebay, you will find some buyers, just don't expect somebody to pay full price for a used card.

            So a few official R9 290X benchmarks have come out. Titan killer it isn't, but it is slightly more powerful then the GTX 780. To counter that, Nvidia is coming out with the GTX 780 Ti which will be more powerful then the R9 290X.

              Good to know. I just wasn't gonna bother if I only got $50 for it. Guess I need to weigh if it's worth keeping as a backup or not.

              and boo on the new naming. I get confused enough as it is.

                Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread

                Pretty simple really:

                R9 = AMD high level cards

                R8 = AMD mid level cards

                R7 = AMD low level cards

                Then each level will have 3 sub levels:

                90 = High

                80 = Mid

                70 = Entry level

                The X at the end will be their over clocked cards

                So a R9 290X = High level, high end over clocked card

                  Well, here's the latest upgrades. My HP is about to really be one in name, only. 750 watt PSU coming tomorrow for my GTX690, which comes Saturday or Monday. I've already put in two 240gb SSD's, 750gb Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid and 16 GB of RAM. About to get a 32GB Corsair kit. I did have to upgrade to Windows 7 Pro, though. Everything should be in by mid-next week. I love having this be my editing PC. My wife can't say much, it's all for editing, honey! Come on 690, I want to play everything at 100FPS on Ultra settings!
                  Note to Tiburon Marketing:

                  A great product sells itself, no "back of the box" features required! (See Fifa...)

                    What you trade in this time ? Or did you finally have to come out of pocket for it ? I always do look forward to your PC build posts. I remember when you had the black magic and the time you took a picture of your 46 inch tv that had 8 different screens on it going at the same time.

                      I''m gonna have to take some pics. I now have a 42" Viewsonic commercial with a 22" on a wall mount next to it. I now have an Elgato, but can't use the thing hardly ever. I never get to play the 360. It's now Disney Infinity with the boys all the time. Between Fifa, 2k and this PC's ability to do full rez FRaPS, I don't miss the 360 at all. As to the trading in part, I did finally pony up some money, LOL! Of course this will be the 4th card I've had in this PC since May! I keep trying one out, and then find one isn't compatible with Vegas, or Adobe plays better with this card OR, "this is the fastest card in the whole world!" That one got me. So trading in the GTX670 4GB we are!

                      What stinks is I have a lot of work still on the PC to be saved before the big reconfiguration next weekend. I have the whole Adobe Creative Cloud suite on here, games, footage, you name it. I have a USB 3.0 portable drive, and it's already half full. I'm thinking of moving the rest of it to my stock 1 TB HDD, and praying there is no conflict when I reinstall it. Shouldn't be, as there are no programs on it, just data. It's an all day job, that I'm not really looking forward to. But when I get done it's gonna be tight. OS on the hybrid, both SSD's for editing/capture, and both the 3.0 and stock HDD for storage. The beauty of it is, I will be done with upgrading. Well, until I can afford the 1TB Samsung Evo SSD!

                      P.S. I am so glad my wife loves me! I'm going to have to post some pics of my camera gear, too! I bought a Panasonic HVX-200A, and a bunch of junk to go with it. Home studio setup.

                        You still keep all that in your living room ? Or did you finally move it to another part of the house ? I vaguely remember you saying in the past you were making your own green screen. My I ask why you didn't get the Titan instead of the 690 ? Same price.

                        4 cards in the same year and you still alive to talk about it ? Wow, she loves you indeed. So other then the Samsung SSD, you are completely done with your rig ? Did you ever upgrade your CPU ?

                          Florida Room/sunroom is now becoming the home studio. PC is still in the living room. I have lights, sound, green screen, Manfrotto tripod, the whole nine yards. I'm pretty much done with the PC after the Samsung, which will wait for now. I have a 3770k, so CPU is where I want it. The RAM will really help with Premier Pro and After Effects. I barely touch Vegas, anymore. I bought three versions in a row, and something was always wrong with it. It is butt slow in rendering compared to Adobe.

                          Now I do have a confession. I actually bought two camera kits. I got tired of lugging it all around by myself. So I just got done selling a bunch of it on EBay to finance the latest PC upgrades. Let's just say that I finally laid out some money.... I did get this device called the CamRanger that will enable me to use my Nikon D5100 remotely to do video. It was just too much work trying to run two pretty decent size cameras by myself. So I still have two cameras available, just not two big ones. Just got done telling the wife that I bought an iPad mini, first gen. (still alive!) My Ipad is for the teleprompter, and I needed a second screen for the CamRanger. It's really neat, you can do everything with the camera over wifi, even get real time video for focus, etc. The Panasonic is my workhorse, though. It's a P2 camera, which is a really rich format, but the cards cost an arm and a leg. About $450-500 for enough storage to do one hour of 1080i.

                          All in all, I am having a blast. Learning Adobe on my own is about ready to drive me crazy, but all of my training from when I was in news is coming back to me. My wife decided to let me go after my dream, so I'm going after it. I've just got to keep plugging along, and it'll happen.

                          P.S. Got the 690 used on EBay for $659. It was from some research firm out in Utah. It has two years warranty through EVga, and the guys will replace any card that is defective. That's why.....

                          P.S.S. God loves me. Went back on EBay and those guys raised the price up to $759! Don't think I would've paid that.....
