Yeah that's awesome list to follow but i would go with what GMSS said and get a ssd. I'm not sure of the prices nowadays but I would go with 250gb m.2 for the OS and most used programs and an ssd for games and other stuff.

Thinking about getting into pc gaming. How much would I spend for 1440p and 120-144fps? Haven’t done PC gaming in at least 15 years. If anyone can steer me in the right direction I’d appreciate it...

Appreciate the info. Some people say the jump from 60fps to 120fps isn’t that noticeable. I’ve personally never tried it so I wouldn’t know. Would you say it’s a huge difference like 30 FPS to 60fps?

It’s pretty hard to go back. The bigger jump is 1080p to 1440p.

Now 1080p to 1440p I can't get behind. Maybe I am just blind but I can't see a drastic difference between them. I've tossed around making the switch for about a year now, because I know 1440p will become the norm in the next 2 years or so. I just hate to drop more cash on a new monitor and not feel like I received anything worth it for doing so.
For now, I'm going to buy a new keyboard and mouse (Logitech G513 Carbon & G Wireless Pro)Comment

Phobia what size monitor are you using? With my 27 Dell it’s pretty incredible.
Plus you are using a 2080ti right? Only pushing 1080p with that beast?

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
I wish lol, I'm only running a 1070ti. I'm running it basically for high frames @1080p while still retaining a high to very high graphic quality. Less so for running high graphics to hit 60+ at a higher res.
Now I have used my buddies 27" 1440p and maybe I need to see 1080p directly next to 1440p but I couldn't physically see a difference in the quality of my screen.
Now I will also point out, I went down from a 27" to a 24" because I mainly play competitive shooters and on the 27" I was losing the edges a bit. I'm not opposed to a 27" 144hz 1440p, I'm just not sold on the frame reduction (140 to 160 in PUBG at 1080p for instance) compared to image quality that 1440p appears to bring.
If I spent more time with it, maybe I would feel differently.Last edited by Phobia; 03-04-2019, 12:30 PM.Comment

For me 60 to 120 hz is the huge difference maker. The smoothness which is not only felt from 120 but also eased on the eyes is a big step forward for gaming pleasure.

Hey Phobia I appreciate the Info. I remember a couple of years ago you were giving advice on using open back headphones for gaming and I tried it at the time and didn’t like it then. Now I love it and only game with open backs. I can’t game on anything else. As long as you have the proper amplification it’s way better. I currently use these

I run 27" (1080p) Samsung IPS as my browser monitor and then a 144hz 24" 1080p Acer.
