    Question about webcams...

Are 4K webcams even worth it?

I'm just looking at streaming regular video game content, not starting an only fans

I would just get a good 1080P one.

Power Supply came in early, so we finished the build last night. Wouldn't boot up initially but the motherboard lights came on, just had to reseat some cables before it started up.

Definitely check out this or your mobo manual for those beeps as they tell an important story.

The one beep + a few beeps could be memory related. I would try re-seating (and cleaning) the sticks in your mobo, and if that doesn't work try just doing one stick at a time.

If that doesn't work another option is to clear the CMOS on the mobo (look for instructions on how to do it for your specific board).

Hopefully one of those gives you some answers, but that's the extent of my troubleshooting ability short of finding new components to try to see if one of the current ones is faulty.
          Thanks for the help guys.

I've been able to get it to start booting up again and I think I'm starting to find a sense of direction for troubleshooting.

I have a clear case so I can see the LED lights on the MB. When I turn the power on if the LED light for VGA comes on and doesn't go away then the PC isn't booting, but after a few attempts (sometimes first try) I'll press start and the light comes on and goes off as the PC boots up just fine.

I plan to clean everything this weekend anyways so I'll probably just take the GPU out and re-insert it and do some other general reset stuff.

It could just be a motherboard issue, but either way at least now I'm starting to kind of figure out what's going on. I'm relatively new to the PC stuff and it's taking some time, but I'm starting to learn what works with what and how.

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread

Quick question, Had my new system for around a month or so and have been using an older Acer XFA240, which has been good. But I kinda want a new one and I rushed into buying an Acer Predator XB241H last night because it had everything I wanted and it looked bad ***.

Basically my problem is this. I have an AMD graphics card and I realized this monitor is a G-Sync monitor. So this basically means no Freesync and I can't use the G-Sync, correct? If that's the case than is it really that big of a deal? It's a 144hz monitor and I will pretty much only be playing in 1080p.

Is it worth returning and finding a Freesync monitor at the same price or is there anything with AMD's software like V-Sync that would basically make it similar. I honestly don't really know a ton about this stuff so anything would be helpful. Thanks.

I run a PC monitoring tool on my 2nd monitor and when I never really see my cpu load go above about 40% or my GPU load go above 25%. I don't have much in the way of brand new PC games, but F1 2019 and Far Cry 5 at max settings don't really push this system. Hopefully that helps give a basis for what a 3800 provides and you can kind of guess what a 3700 or a 3900 will do from there.

The Division 2, Breakpoint and Star Wars Fallen Jedi are the only games that make my GPU work hard. My PC is around 6 years old now. Ryzen finally gotten to the point that I am interested. Going to see how good Ampre and the Ryzen 4000 series be.

But if I see a deal on parts, I won't wait for the next generation.

Thanks to both of you gents for everything earlier on, and stopping me from going supernova too early with other hardware coming soon lol.

Finally got my build up earlier tonight and trying to reinstall some of my programs, so i haven't had a chance to play with it yet.

Feels like an eternity looking for parts and waiting for them to come, then finally getting it together.

My only issue now is trying to throw away all of these boxes

I totally forgot Forza is on the PC.

Damn I need to do this soon.

Picked up a Razer Raiju tournament edition controller to use for my pc. Way better than my Elite Xbox one controller. Such good quality and the buttons feel like mouse clicks. My Xbox one sticks are falling apart on me. I still have back ups but I’ll save it for my Xbox and use this new one mostly for pc and might use it for my PS4 since that’s what it’s made for.

This thread makes me miss my pc, it’s currently in el Nido collecting dust. Luckily my cousin got stuck there before lockdown and it’s about to lift and he can bring my monitors and pc to me.

Thanks Skillz. I ended up buying an AOC 24" 1080p 144hz Freesync for $175. It's a VA panel. I figured I'd see how it is since it was a really good price for everything I'm looking for. If I don't like it, I'll just send it back and get that Asus. I had already looked at that one and like it. However, I do prefer a 24" since I sit pretty close to the screen.

AOC is a solid brand but IPS panel is a game changer for me.

For those streaming, what capture card are you using? I see ElGato is the king but I only one I can find is the 4K pci one which is fn expensive.

I do have enough extra parts to build a 2nd pc just to be a streaming pc but would rather get an external one so I can use my gaming laptop as a streaming pc.

Couldn't wait. Upgraded to the RTX 2080ti. I have a strong feeling the next wave of GPUs going to be delayed anyway and won't release until next year.
