SpoilerOnly plot hole which wasn't answer was when they caught Old Joe they never showed if he killed the stripper's son or not. Old Joe either killed him or just skipped him to get to Cid.
Either way my reaction for most of the movie was like the GIF below
Spoiler
Not a plot hole. The clumsy six-shooter guy was in the bedroom, tased Old Joe, and then took him to Abe.
Once he gets there then he "remembers" Cid using TK on the Raising Hope cowboy.

Re: Looper (JGL and Bruce Willis)
Great, Great Movie. JGL was at the top of his game and even he was out shined by Pierce Gagnon lol. Loved everything about it.
Now for the things that were going through my head as it was exploding.
MassiveSpoilerIs Cid the youngest Joe. The things that kept resonating w/ me was the rubbing of his hair by his mom, "I put that gun in your hand" and the importance of the train. Maybe his TK was dormant because of the drugs. Idk Or maybe Im over thinking everything lolPsn: Plex-07Comment

Re: Looper (JGL and Bruce Willis)
Spoilerhmmm Maybe I missed that, I gotta see it again....
edit:
SpoilerActually someone explained it to me and now I remember it makes total sense. Since Young Joe saw what happened it created a "memory" in old joe's head. Clever writing for a time travel movieLast edited by Kashanova; 10-02-2012, 01:07 PM.Comment

Re: Looper (JGL and Bruce Willis)
Great movie... cannot believe this movie's budget was only $30mil. Ridic..
anyway, couple of questions.....
SpoilerWhy was Bruce Willis so concerned about young Joe's future? His time with his wifewas over, at least she wouldn't get killed.(I guess it may have had to do with him enjoying his memories.)
Why the hell is Emily Blunt chopping wood in 2044? That seemed a bit odd, but at least she looked good while doing it. Also, wouldn't it have been better if Young Joe just killed Cid? I mean I know he was hoping for Cid's mother to kind of nurture Cid to where his powers wouldnt be used for bad...but thats a huge chance you're taking on a kid who killed his own mother out of rage.
These aren't really complaints, just some thoughtsComment

These aren't really complaints, just some thoughtsSpoilerHe did not kill his mother's sister out of rage or at least that is what is mentioned in the movie. The kid even said his TK was not strong enough to protect her from the vagrants.
Also by the time Young Joe realized the cycle or loop beginning, he might have decided to kill the Rainmaker. However by then it was too late and he had to make a quick rash decision before everything got out of hand.Comment

SpoilerWhy was Bruce Willis so concerned about young Joe's future? His time with his wife was over, at least she wouldn't get killed.(I guess it may have had to do with him enjoying his memories.)

Actually, Old Joe didn't believe his time with his wife was over. In his mind he thought that by killing the Rainmaker before the Rainmaker begins his Holy Terror campaign that would basically vanish him back to the future with his wife since there would be no Rainmaker to send him back in the first place.
I loved how they introduced Old Joe and set him up as the good guy with the diner scene. You think he's operating on some kind of "save humanity" motive, but in reality he's just acting out of pure self-interest. He doesn't care about the terror campaign he only cares about having his wife. He doesn't even care that he could save her, but he wants to hold on to what is his.
Emily Blunt chopping wood = stress relief.
I think Young Joe made a logical decision at the end. It may have been quick, but I don't think it was rash. The film does A LOT to bring the characters together and draw comparisons based on looks, actions, and dialogue. Young Joe essentially saw himself in Cid and was seeing that cycle of violence continuing anew. He quips about how old men put guns/dreams of what they want to hold onto into the hands and arms of boys. I feel like Young Joe was giving Cid the chance that Young Joe never had. The chance to actually have a good life.
There's a couple good morality tales in this film, but I think the biggest one and most striking one to me is the fact that we like to believe that we become a better person as we get older. We like to think that our young selves didn't know any better and as we get older we'll learn from our mistakes. Looper basically calls that all bull**** and its a great way to look at it.

Re: Looper (JGL and Bruce Willis)
First, I loved the movie. Thought I would like it more than I did, but it was still really really good. Had one question though, that I'm sure I missed.
SpoilerWhy was it needed that a looper had to kill the old version of themselves? Wouldn't another looper killing them close the loop and also then no one would be none the wiser and no gold would need to be exchanged? Like I said, I'm sure I missed something.Comment

He had to be the one who figured out how to build a time machine with the sole purpose of how could he avert what happened to himself when he was young. He must have tried hundreds of scenarios in order to prevent his mother's death.Comment

Re: Looper (JGL and Bruce Willis)
Spoiler
Loopers close their own loops because if somebody else were to do it then what is stopping you from killing your murderer and thus opening your loop back up?
Also, the Rainmaker might not even exist until Old Joe makes the trip back.

I saw it.
I dunno how I feel. It was ok, but I guess I am just missing something. Maybe I went into it thinking it would be the greatest movie ever reading about it and seeing the reviews.Charger Fan Born and Raised!

Re: Looper (JGL and Bruce Willis)
SpoilerWhich one in the movie they showed Joe going back twice. This is why I wanted to see more of the Rainmakers troubled time line. In a way it gives us opportunities to speculate but it leaves us with the chicken and the egg syndrome as to what sparked the original and immediate closing of all loops.
I personally think the kid is a powder keg no matter what took place and that his destiny is set the only difference is how and what he tries to do about it.Comment
