What receiver should I get (home theater question)
I've had an Onkyo for a couple years but I didn't do enough research since after one year, it stopped working with my ps3 and yesterday it just died out of nowhere. I'm never buying an Onkyo again and I need a new one do what should I look at getting? There's a Denon and Pioneer that I've been looking at but I'm sure that there are some other brands or receivers within those brands that might be better than what I've been able to find on my own. My budget is about $450.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Tags: None -

I bought this one a few weeks ago to replace my old Sony. Works great for me. It has an auto-calibration tool as well.
I'm not much of an audiophile, but this fits the bill for my needs. Next up is replacing my ancient speakers. -

Do you know anything about Yamaha's? I saw a nice one at a good price but after the Onkyo experience I wanna make sure that the brand doesn't have a history of unreliability.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. I have the Yamaha RX-V667. I wanted it for the 7.2 compatibility, and I use it all. Sounds good, but I've heard better, specifically from Denon and Pioneer. They just seem to carry a bit more power. The DENON 1912/2112 are great. Both are in your price range

The new Onkyo's do not have the overheating issues. I just bought one and can attest that after about 8 hours of PS3 movie watching and Xbox gaming it's barely warm enough to know it's on.
Here is the receiver I just picked up:
