For Those Who Know Their TVs - Question.

Ok, I have a going on 6 year old Westinghouse 42" LCD 1080p HDTV, only 1,000:1 contrast ratio. I am looking for an upgrade and probably going either Samsung or Panasonic. My TV will be for mainly gaming, and sports, so a lot of fast movement occurring on screen.

I have the opportunity to get the Samsung C9000 (2010 model discontinued) 55" LED 240Hz HDTV for only $1200. I've heard both good and bad about this TV, it looks amazing in store but not sure how it would be at handling fast motion scenes from games, sports, movies, etc. The design though is beautiful and only .31 inches thin, currently the thinnest on the market. (until OLED comes out)

My other options are the 55" Panasonic Viera 2012 lineup Plasma HDTVs:

What do you guys think? I've heard overall Plasma's (especially Panasonic Vieras)offer a deeper, better picture, especially black/darker scenes as well as being better for gaming and fast motion with Vieras being 600Hz.

It's personal preference really. Some like plasma (myself) and some like LCD (LED).

But I would stick with a major brand like you stated earlier: Sammy, Panasonic, Sony, LG, etc.
