Re: Revolution - New NBC series this Fall

I checked out half-way through the 2nd episode.
Nothing really appealing to me and as dumb as this sounds, I couldn't get past the nerdy sword fights.

And is it me, or does everyone look way too clean? Everyone looks like they stepped out of a GAP commercial.

I do like the premise, but I think a show like this would have done better on a cable network where they could have made it way more gritty.

I was hanging on to see where the story goes, but I can't get past the bad writing and acting. I gave up 1/2 way through this weeks episode.

It's hard for me to explain but for me, or others I'm sure, when you've watched as much television as I have, you start to see these things.

It looks and films like a series that would have been picked up by ABC. I'm not sure if the Abrams touch has something to do with that or not.

But it sadly had an affect on me getting into the show. I instantly think of things like Flash Forward, V and The River. And all of those eventually disappointed me.

I was telling my wife about your comments last night. She agrees. It would be interesting to see who the set people are, but I see a lot of LOST in this show (stylistically). The greens are very vibrant and it has a crisp look.

Anyway, I watched the pilot and was interested. Someone else mentioned it here, but the over-acting is a bit much. Just in case anyone hasn't seen the pilot...

This the major drawback for me.... the swashbuckling sword fights, and the sexy girls who appear to still be wearing make up in a post apocalyptic event is too much.

The guy cast as the bad-*** brother/killer who can take out an entire army just does not strike me as that, and the general monroe character is another poor cast because this guy seems too pretty-boy to be a masochistic tyrannical villian.

I just want to know what caused the power to go out, nothing else really interests me.

Well, for those that enjoy the show, it's still going along pretty strong.

It has lost some viewers (expected) but maintained 90% of its demographic from the previous week.

It isn't beating out Castle, but it's fighting neck-and-neck with Hawaii Five-0 and that show (surprisingly to me) is still going strong in its third season.

So, good news so far for Revolution.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

I'm still pretty interested in the show. I can get over most of the issues just because I'm so damn curious about what happened.

So what is this show doing now? I haven't seen an ep since the 2nd episode.

Re: Revolution - New NBC series this Fall

I've started this show when it premiered, but like many have said....something about it seems iffy. I don't know but i'm excited waiting for this like I am for Grimm or Once upon a time. The show has a cool concept and idea.....but is pretty boring.

The ending of the second episode or really more specifically the third episode with the revelation of who founded the Monroe militia was pretty interesting......but nothing more striking beyond that.

Side note: Monroe was the main character in the very short lived "The Cape" show lmfao.

I'll stick with it until it's cancellation or maybe, hopefully until it gets more interesting and exiciting

Some things are silly, but it is growing on me. I like the Lost-type flashbacks, and it has also been cool to see former Lost characters.

I like the show, its got an Old School Planet of the Apes feel to it. I don't really feel the main characters. The tough guy is a cheeseball. The bearded guy plays a pretty good character. The black militia captain has a pretty good story. Overall, I will watch it. I hate the fact tthat every network Drama I start watching gets cancelled while Here Comes Honey Boo Boo gets renewed.

It's growing on me (just caught up on a few episodes), but it hasn't totally hooked me yet.

It's somewhat telegraphing "surprises" as well, so just hoping the show will find some sort of stride and be a bit better.

This is exactly why I stopped watching it after episode two. The characters looked like models and the sword fighting was just corney looking. Ill stick to watching shows on pay channels like HBO, much more realistic.

It's back (2nd episode back was Monday)! We're liking it so far.

I like how they're keeping the story moving and aren't afraid to get rid of people. Hopefully this can keep going and get a 2nd season.
