With both Celtics/Heat and Monday Night Raw on tonight, I'm going to have to DVR all 3 parts on Wednesday. Looking forward to checking it out later on in the week.

Yeah, I was thinking even the McCoy clan said that brother had it coming for fighting for the Union.

Just saw the first part and I must say this is a very good production. It's nice to see a fairly accurate rendition of the story and one that doesn't hew to one side or the other as both families looked rather pathetic in stretches.

Great acting by Costner and Paxton! Ronan Vibert is also very good as Cline in fact, the acting throughout was very good except for the two lovers Johnse and Roseanna. (played by Matt Barr and Lindsay Pulsipher respectively)

Part 1 was very good. I see they have the Blu Ray made already.

Its just a pre-order. Bluray/DVD comes out July 29th IIRC from the commercials.

Pretty good first part. Costner was great I thought, though Paxton kind of dropped off the face of the earth for a good 30 minutes or so. The romance story kind of slowed things down a bit, but overall pretty good - will definitely watch tomorrow.

How much has been historically accurate so far?

Great first episode. Tom Berenger was nearly unrecognizable.

I liked the first part. Some parts of the dialogue were tough to understand; not sure if that was just my TV or if anyone else was having the same problem.

I heard it was shot in Romania and not on location in West Virginia/Kentucky? Not sure why they did that. But overall, I thought the first part was really good and I can't wait until the second part.

Had the same problem, kinda hard to understand what some lines were.

                          I thought it was fantastic.

I agree some of the lines were hard to understand. I actually ended up turning closed captioning on for the last 45 minutes to better understand some of the words.

I didn't have that problem with the dialogue in terms of hearing as I wear my headphones when watching TV (my room is directly next to my sister's and she complains about the TV being too loud) but I did have some issues with the accents and the actual linguistics. It's something one has to get used to so I applaud them for trying to be as authentic as possible.

As for the filming in Romania, it was probably shot there because it's cheaper and they probably got monetary/tax credits of some sort.

Good, maybe now they'll spend more time making things like this, and less time coming up with the next Swamp People.
