    Movie previews while at Theaters

Did anyone else experience 30 minutes of previews while at the movie theater this Holiday weekend? I went to see MIB3, a movie that listed a start time as 3:30PM. I got to my seat at 3:25, and the movie started just before 4:00pm, and I am not exaggerating. I am adding this to my list of reasons why I may never attend a movie theater.

The length of previews never bothered me in the past, but since my movie going experiences keep dwindling down in terms of enjoyment level, it really stood out to me. Even my date commented and showed great discomfort at the length of time we sat there doing nothing. Also, I noted that every preview that I cared to know about was already available on the web, so I already knew what was going to play out before me for nearly the entire time I was held captive (holding my seat so it won't get stolen before the movie started).

Did this happen to anyone else this weekend?

I didn't go to the movies this weekend but it doesn't seem too surprising. I bet they extended the trailer time since they knew so many people would be hitting the theaters this weekend.

Ours isn't as bad. We get about 5 minutes of commercials first, then 2-3 previews. So maybe 10 minutes worth.

I don't mind it. Tickets are $5 during the day and all the time for students for a theater that has fully converted to digital projectors and just replaced the seating. Ads help keep that possible.

We went too early to MIB 3 and were treated to more than one look at The HatfieldMcCoys feud.

Usually the previews are around 15-17 minutes, but sometimes they start the movie past the scheduled showtime. I didn't notice anything extra for the Memorial Day weekend.

I saw MIB3 last Friday. They then proceeded to preview Spider-Man for what felt like 20+ minutes and I was all "I guess I just watched the whole movie!"

They showed all these scenes (actual scenes) then cut it with some trailer stuff then more scenes. I was pretty disappointed to be spoiled like that.

I sat through about 20-25 minutes of previews when I went to see The Hunger Games which was a bit longer than the previews the GF and I had to sit through the last couple times we were at the movies.

Other than that it's usually about 10 minutes or so.

Makes sense for the movie theaters to show more previews over the holidays. No different than more commercials during nationally televised sporting events.

The previews are the only thing I actually enjoy about seeing a movie at the theater. So it wouldn't bother me at all.

Speaking of previews that upcoming end of the world Steve Carell movie looks pretty bad.

The premise is good but the whole "oh we have time to get to know each other and it seems like every one is taking things easy" vibe that I got from that trailer made me roll my eyes. When I saw that preview I told my GF that it was the most preposterous set up for a rom-com that i've seen in quite some time.

My take exactly. It's like the end of the world is viewed as some kind of casual event.
