Yeah once in awhile you should clean the computer and let it defrag

I just used CCleaner. Didn't fix any of the issues I mentioned before, but it does feel like it might be running smoother.

I was going to do a refresh but it would get rid of a lot of stuff that came with the pc and I don't wanna try to get it all back. I don't know. Maybe I will just have to do it.

Windows PCs with same specs as Macs are still superior to Macs in my eyes.

What stuff that came with the PC do you actually use?

If you have Windows 10 open the Task Manager and go to "startup". 99% of anything that is enabled can be disabled. The only thing I have enabled on mine is Avast virus protection. If you have W7 just type MSConfig into the windows search (or maybe in run).

I've had serious issues with pretty much every windows laptop that I can recall owning. Going back to like 2003 with a Compaq that crapped out on me after a year or so, I then used a Dell Desktop for a few years which was good. I then got another Compaq laptop in like 07 or 08 and it crapped out on me in about a year or maybe a little more. Then I had 2 Toshiba laptops. One lasted me a couple years then the other lasted less than 2. And it was high end. Or at least was at the time. It just catastrophically failed on me.

There is no way all these laptops should only last 2 years at the most. Especially the near $1000 Toshiba I bought. I am either really unlucky or I am doing something wrong that I don't know about.

This Lenovo was cheap because I was afraid to spend a lot and get burned again. But I guess I should have paid the extra $100 and got the Asus I was looking at.

And I forgot to mention that the cd rom drive on this computer won't open. Never has.

Stop buying Compaq's... That was the majority of your problem right there.
Honestly.


Dell's are usually stable even if they use proprietary parts.

HP is still solid, Sony is solid, look towards that stuff.

Well the Compaq's were a long time ago. And the second one was a gift. But no reason the Toshiba's should have been so bad. Especially the high end one.

But yeah, I'm thinking HP or Sony if I stay with Windows. My dad has a Dell and has had a lot of problems with it and my mom had one for just over a year and the motherboard went bad.

Toshiba isn't even as good as it used to be but yeah I think you had a bad luck string with electronics.

I've both owned and used Dell's at work and never had much issue to the point of frustration.

I have an Asus tablet laptop and love it. I still have an old Dell that i got from work years ago before they laid us all off, I just reinstalled the XP on it and it still works, and it's been years.

..but yeah I'd say you might as well chalk up Lenovo as the new Compaq Presario next time

Windows laptops have always given me problems but I always stuck by them in the past. Bought my macbook at beginning of 2013 and not one single issue yet. It's crazy to me how good it the quality it is. You can talk specs all day but I've never had a Windows machine as reliable as this Mac. Build quality is great as well as the track pad.

I also have a 2013 hp ultrabook, and I hate using it even with Windows 10. Its a high-end laptop that gives me problems all the time.

My gf also owns a mac air 2013 and I love that thing. The battery life is crazy with good build quality.

So if you can get a good deal on 2013, go for it.

My MacBook Pro is 8 years old, the only thing I had to replace was the battery. I keep telling myself I need to upgrade to a later model but it works so well it is hard to pull the trigger. The macs cost more initially but add up what you have spent in 8 years and I am sure it is more than the Mac.

I was looking at the Surface Book from Microsoft but am not sure I want to go with windows since Ive been using a MacBook Pro the last couple of years. I must say that I do like the way Mac's just seem to work plus the build quality on the Mac is second to none in my opinion.

There is honestly no need to go back once you get a macbook pro.

They are nice machines and just last forever anyway.
