Ps3, Vizio, and 1080p help needed.

Hey guys

I have a vizio that can do 1080p with no problems. However I noticed that many games do not support 1080p. This is fine but today I brought home NCAA 13 and on the back it says it can do 1080p yet it always just goes to 720p.

If I uncheck the 720p it will do 1080. But why would it not naturally do 1080p. Whenever I am at the PS home screen it does display in 1080.

Only games will not. Any thoughts or am I just being dumb? Ha. Thanks.

Normally when you "force" a game to output in 1080p, if its not its natural resolution, you're sacrificing something else in the game's performance. Developers choose what their most optimal resolution is, even if it can run in both.

It obviously depends on what you're losing, but it's almost the same argument as 720p vs. 1080i. If anyone asks why you would ever take something with significantly less detail, your one technological answer could be because you're getting more information on screen every frame passthrough, which may be equally as important, if not more important.

Some games, like The Show, loses a lot. You'll have a choppier framerate, lower resolution in many areas, and what you essentially get is a higher definition visual of objects which have lower definition. 720p is optimal for them, even though 1080p is possible.

Most ps3 games run in 720p, you will find a select few that actually runs in 1080p
