Internet Recommendation

So my mom is looking to drop Comcast in favor of Centurylink/DirecTV. I really wouldn't care, but the one thing that is currently stopping us is the internet. They are only saying we can get the 7mbps package and that is a huge drop-off from my current internet:



I do a lot of online gaming (there are two Xbox 360s hooked up to my router for a good chunk of time throughout the day) and I'm not sure that Centurylink will cut it. Has anyone used their internet services before on here (I'd assume so).

I'm just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for this scenario. I should point out that this will only be for the next couple of months if we do keep it as I will be going off to college fairly soon. She's willing to pull the plug on some TV channels until then to accommodate for my internet usage and lower our bill until then.

not worth it.
my town doesnt have cable or phone internet, so I only have the choice of satellite internet or my towns wireless isp internet.

They both suck and are a rip off. The connection rarely stays the same speed and is always konking out. its very frustrating.

do anything you can to keep your cable internet, or even get verizon dsl if you can. at least thats landline.
stay away from the wireless crap.

I used to have cable internet through Mediacom and then switched to CenturyLink when I got Direct TV. Even though I hate Medicaom, their cable internet is much faster. I pay less through CenturyLink for internet but it's not as good.

Thanks guys. It's only for 2 months, so I'm going to probably let her know to do what she can to stay with Comcast.
