Like many have said before me...I enjoyed both. But between the two, TDKR is the winner IMO.

Re: Avengers vs. Dark Knight Rises
I liked Avengers much better. It's thin on story but it's a turn your brain off, have fun movie. Had very little hope for Loki being a good villan but he was great.
TDKR has a story but it's swiss cheese. It's actually a turn your brain off movie but I wasn't expecting that so left it on. I'll watch it again on blu-ray,turn off my brain, turn on Bane subtitles and maybe I'll like it more but as of now it's not even the best recent Batman movie. (Year One)Comment

Re: Avengers vs. Dark Knight Rises
The Avengers was more fun and a better "superhero" movie. TDKR is probably liked more by people who aren't into superheroes but like a good movie. The Avengers has many memorable scenes but I can't think of any scene which stands out in TDKR.Comment

Re: Avengers vs. Dark Knight Rises
Ok, I forgot about that scene, and I do remember when it was in a comic book back in '92 or '93. I have to give TDKR its due, my wife was freaked out by Bane. He scared the crap out of her and she felt the movie was too scary and intense. Definitely not a kids' movie.Comment

Re: Avengers vs. Dark Knight Rises
Both were great but im going with TDKR..Avengers was good it satisfied my inner kid it had fun action and had an eye candy of special effects with a typical plot imo.....TDKR was on some real gritty dark roller coaster type ish with a great plot and twists plus its Batman it satisfied my mature side"Wisdom is ALWAYS an overmatch for strength"........The Zen MasterComment

Re: Avengers vs. Dark Knight Rises
I really like both movies, but I guess I give the nod to the Avengers because I'm a huge Hulk fan. That said, the existential seriousness in TDKR is unparalleled. Bane really made me feel hopeless in that movie. Sad thing about it is I left the movie liking the villainAfter the first viewing of TDKR I said I'm going to have to wait until this cloud moves to see it again. Well I've seen it again and it was better the second go around, especially Hathaway. I saw the Avengers three times for the fun of it. I don't know again I love Hulk but loved the darker existentialism of TDKR. I'll have fun with both on Blue Ray. Total Recall and Borne Legacy are up next.

SpoilerNot because of a poor movie just watched but the emotional rollercoater we were just on. Plus, the ending is one for interpretation.Comment

That how it was in my theater too. It was good to see the film with a group of people who were completely invested in the narrative.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Re: Avengers vs. Dark Knight Rises
I don't really think that this is close at all. The Avenger was a great movie but The Dark Knight Rises wins easily in my eyes for one reason, it was the culmination of the best superhero movie trilogy of all-time and it ended it well. I still go back and forth with people over the ending of the movie and what actually happens. The Avengers just didn't capture me in the same way that TDKR did. I'm also a huge Batman fan so I'm a bit biased, Batman and Spider-Man are probably my favorite superheros..Chicago Bulls | Chicago Bears | Chicago White Sox | Chicago BlackhawksComment

Re: Avengers vs. Dark Knight Rises
Did not care for Liam Neeson as the villian in the 1st one and really like the second until they dragged it out with a poorly induced Two-Face character. Didn't see this yet, but heard good things. I'm all Marvel at heart (and at collection), though I always thought Batman conceptually fits more of the Marvel universe than the DC. It will take a lot for TDKR to overcome my satisfaction with the Avengers.Comment

Re: Avengers vs. Dark Knight Rises
Avengers was a great superhero movie. TDKR was an epic drama. One is rooted in high fast paced action and sensationalism and the other in deep character development, engrossing verbiage and introspection.
Like mentioned a bunch of times before they're not really comparable. I thought both were well done and accomplished what each wanted to accomplish both in the eyes of their directors and the viewing public.
If I'm forced to choose I'm going with TDKR because the movie draws you in from a few different angles. It pulls on a multitude of emotions and covers a deeper more thought provoking time span for both the events and the characters. Where Avengers was a straight forward action flick that isn't designed to promote as personal of a discussion either societal or sociological.
As an adult its easy to see how TDKR catered to a more mature audience. Most kids under 10 would side with Avengers as TDKR was a little too advanced for the younger crowd.
Nolans work was inspiring.
This coming from someone who didn't even bother watching Begins until TDK had already been in theaters.Last edited by RumbleCard; 07-30-2012, 09:06 PM.PS4 - CoastalRyan
