    Replacement Battery for Toshiba Laptop?

    I have a Toshiba Satellite l645-S4102

The 2 hour battery I got with it is no longer holding a charge past a hour or so and there's an icon on the task bar that says "consider changing your battery"...

I went to Amazon (I'd like to use my credit for pre ordering Madden) and there were choices that ranged from around $30.00 to $98.00...

I have no idea what brands of replacement batteries are solid...

I'd like to replace the 2 hour battery with a 4 hour one (if possible) and basically compare the relative costs of both the "best available" 2 and 4 hour options...

    Thoughts / opinions?

    Thanks!!!

Read the reviews. If you get a cheap battery the odds are you'll be getting a piece of a ****.

      Ah, the reviews may help...thanks...

Yeah, I don't want to pay the $129.00 - $149.00 from Toshiba (if I don't have to), but I also don't want something I'll regret at a lower price point...

Anyone know anything about this BattPitt brand?

It's a cheaper option, but there's not a ton of reviews to go by...

I bought a cheapo battery for my netbook about 3 months ago and couldn't be happier.

+ It was $25, whereas the official equivalent was over $100 and name brand replacements were over $80
+ It gives me slightly better life as my original battery (slightly over 10 hours instead of slightly under 9)
+ Capacity has held up so far (3 months of heavy use)

          - It's larger than my original battery, but not too bad (original was a big battery anyway)
          - It came unconditioned, not a big deal but people who didn't bother reading would ruin the battery
          - It was rated higher than the capacity I got, again not a big deal since it's still plenty big, but something to remember when buying

Maybe I just got lucky, but the battery I got was a winner. Also, despite people sticking random brands on the batteries, they all looked like the same actual battery. I bought the cheapest I could find on Amazon that was shipped by Amazon (but sold by a marketplace seller).

Do you remember what brand it was?

Seems like that Battpit company has the cheaper options on Amazon...

            Was it one of theirs?

            Thanks!

It was unbranded, sold by Sunvalleytek. At the time it was just the cheapest Prime eligible option, they were being sold all over (battery has unique casing).

That's another way to do it to, go cheap and hope for a winner.

I'm currently 0 for my last 7 when going cheap, including batteries I've purchased for other people.

This is what I've been wondering about...it seems kind of "hit and miss" with the off brads, according to review...

Still, I'm having trouble wrapping my head around spending $150.00 for a battery for a laptop I got barely used for $350.00...

So far, I'm learning to live with it plugged in...

It took 2 returns before I got a decent "off brand" battery for a dell laptop. No way was I going to pay $100+ for a Dell replacement battery.

Amazon's return policy is easy. Try it for a few days and if it doesn't hold a charge, send it back.

Well, if you do get a loser for a battery at least it will allow you to move it around from room to room.

This makes a lot of sense...

                        Thanks AGAIN, GC02...

Well, the one that's in it now goes for nearly an hour, so I just have been changing my habits a bit...

I find I can adjust to just about anything...

After all, it wasn't THAT long ago that I was on a "dial up" deal and locked in at the dining room table, anyway!

Oh, those crazy early "oughts", huh?
