Phyllis Diller ~ Female Stand-Up Icon ~ Deceased at 95

A lot of you guys here wouldn't know who she is, but she was truly a pioneer of comedy. She was one of the first notable female comedians in a male dominated field and her self-deprecating style was practically unmatched. She is probably most recently known by some of you guys for her voice acting in "A Bug's Life" as The Queen. But she was a continual fixture on the great early variety and talk shows as well as holiday specials. She was funny, and she was classy and she cannot be overshadowed. She valued the challenge of the work over the money or fame.

First appearance on You Bet Your Life:

    Typical Diller stand-up humor:

Probably one of her last bits (intro'd by Tom Hanks) / the classic Diller laugh:

    And speaking about her laugh:

This was apparently done in '06.... in other words, she was 89 doing stand-up!

Same here, she was just one of those people that seemed to live forever and a day.
