As for what I think of 3d? I hate it. I especially hate wearing the glasses , which makes the screen look darker.

What do you think about 3D movies?
What do you think of the new/old trend of 3D Movies . Do you think the glasses enhance the movie experience or an annoyance? What do you like about 3d and what do dislike about it? And do you think the current trend is here to stay or will it go away like it did in the 50's and 80s?

Re: What are you think about 3D movies....???
I like 3D movies. I have a 3D TV and I enjoy watching movies or playing games in 3D. I just dont like paying the absurd price for 3D movies. Im not sure if its a trend that will continue or not. Tough to say. I think it would catch on more when TVs that dont require glasses become cheaper.MLB: Texas Rangers

I'd probably get a passive 3D set (LG) if the 3D movies weren't so horribly overpriced compared to the 2D releases.Comment

Re: What are you think about 3D movies....???
My only real problem with 3D is when they try to force feed 3D scenes into what would otherwise be a typical 2D movie. They end up being completely out of place while adding nothing of value.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: What are you think about 3D movies....???
I can make a long rant about why 3D movies have good/bad, but I'll try and make it as brief as possible:
The best possible way that 3D can be filmed is when everything appears to have a "looking through a window" effect. This means the depth of field should be as fixed as possible (objects up close and far away are all in focus), and the lens angle should have the same focal length as we perceive it (so, nothing wide-angle).
In other words, if 3D films are shot like 2D films, they lose their 3D appeal. On the flip-side, unfortunately, if they're filmed like I mentioned above, they lose their 2D appeal.
This has nothing to do with objects "flying at you." I don't mind that, because I don't see it as a gimmick. What I have a problem with, however, is if they perceive a shot with 3D in mind before anything else. That's what makes it a gimmick.
Anyway, Avatar had a lot of shots like I described as the "best possible way," which is why it looked so good IMO. I don't mind films being shot in 3D as long as that's not the big thing that's being touted about the film. It's kind of one reason I give Pixar more bump than something like Dreamworks: they don't try and sell their films in their TV spots by the voice actors they have. The more you tout something, the more gimmicky it feels, and the less intrigue I have feeling that the film, in general, is any good outside of its gimmicks.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: What do you think about 3D movies?
At this point they are overrated. There just haven't been many movies done well in 3D so far. Hollywood is really milking it , which irritates me more considering how poor most have been.Comment

I've never seen one. I'm not going to pay extra for something that, for me, won't make the movie any better. I don't want to wear any glasses either. I'm hoping something new come along and sends 3D packing the way of the Laserdisc.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Re: What do you think about 3D movies?
However, we'll need 4K televisions, 4K media players, and 4K media. If those things start poking their heads out to the mainstream market, there damn better be a good upgrading program from Blu-ray.Last edited by Blzer; 09-02-2012, 11:59 AM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Considering how deep I'm invested in 1080p blu rays I'm not converting to "the next big thing" for a LONG TIME.Comment

I'm not trying to sit around my house with glasses like that on my face and have to shell out an additional $200 for everybody in the family or stops by who wants to watch TV.Comment

Re: What do you think about 3D movies?
Not a fan at all.
I wear glasses, so wearing the 3D glasses on top of those is a ****ing nightmare with reflections and stuff. I will, generally, see the 2D alternative if the options is available. Avatar is the only 3D movie I've seen that I felt it was worth it - and I still had to deal with the dizziness for a bit.Comment
