    Home Theater Paint Scheme

I've recently been painting and updating my downstairs basement and after doing so I ran across some information that has me a bit worried.

I am doing a Chicago sports themed basement, Blackhawks, Cubs, and Bears. In my TV area I have the walls painted in a Blackhawks color scheme. Here's a pic...

Now, while I'm very pleased with the look of the walls I've read that if you have red walls it can tend to give your TV a pink hue due to the light reflecting off of the wall and back to the TV. I think it sounds a bit crazy but I guess it does have me a bit worried.

I did some more research and found these setups that have red walls...

Do any of you guys have similar setups with red or other brightly colored walls? I really don't want to re-do the paint scheme but I would if it would really give my TV a pink hue.

Am I just being overly paranoid?

I had red walls in our family room & never had any issues with the wall color messing with picture quality.

I doubt it will matter very much. Nice paint job.

If you were running a projector, you would have wanted to go with a darker color. The closer to black...the better.

LOL! Joe, it seems like you have that same Walmart special TV stand/tower that I have. I'm actually looking to get a TV stand to place under the mounted TV in the next few months to replace this stand.

Gagnon that room is looking nice, please share some pics when it is done.

Thanks. And I will share for sure. I've also been concerned about the black and white stripes. I'm worried that they'll be too visible when watching movies in the dark. Maybe I'm just being overly critical and worrying too much about it.

I spent quite a while painting this scheme and really don't want to change it so I'm going to stick with it until I see how it works out.

Gagnon, remember this is a space where you, family & friends will go to hangout & enjoy each others company.

The design looks great & the idea is awesome IMO

Well, that's true but this is just the TV area. I have about 1000 square feet where we can hang out downstairs. I'm planning on getting a bubble hockey game, a pool table, and some other types of games like that. So the area I'm showing will just be for movies, TV, and video games.
