I never doubt the impossible when a show has created such a convenient way to get out of writing into a wall.

And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

I totally agree, but sadly I also agree with those who think that it is still a good possibility that he part of the cult. Much better written shows than this one have ruined their stories by having such a reveal, often waiting several seasons to so.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

They could make him part of the Cult by saying either those who abducted him didn't know OR they did it all just to make the FBI 100% trust him to never being part of the Cult.

I will roll my eyes if they do but I too agree that they probably will..

I totally expected Jacob to kill his parents and not Paul.

I found it pretty funny that someone could shoot and kill someone in a diner with a spear gun and just walk out. Not a single person confronted her or tried to stop her.

I'm not a handyman at all but I'm pretty sure you can't shoot nails out of a nail gun like that can you? I thought it had to be pressed against something, no?

There were a lot of things wrong with that scene, and nail guns have a safety so as you say they need to be pressed against something.

That harpoon kill was crazy. I thought she just had a gun under the table.

Now that Jacob has killed someone, I think his character will become more of a villain.

I get the feeling that what you say is 100% spot on, in fact I think Jacob will become the WORST killer on the show, sort of a metaphor for how many of us can't imagine killing but once you go down that road...

I don't know about all nail guns now but I have seen one shot before. Its been awhile of course so maybe safety has changed quite a bit these days.

Man, this episode just made me uneasy. I think the wife and I might step back as this show just kind of leaves a taste in my mouth that I can't get rid of after it's done. I'm not a big horror movie guy at all - if any - and the gruesome acts of violence to innocent people always seems to bug me.

Love the storyline - I want to see the ending, I"m going to take a week to recover from yesterday's episode though. Think I'll be back then - in the meantime, I'm going to go watch Care Bears or something.

This was EXACTLY how my wife and I felt watching Dexter for the first time.

I've mentioned a few 24 references in here, now the actors are starting to show up.

Warden- Avi or something similar in season 2.
Roderick- Agent Gage in season 7
Jacobs Mom- Bill Buchanan's wife in season 5 and 6. Also, plays the head of the FBI unit in Criminal Minds.

Yes it could shot the nail and kill someone.

                                2 problems though-
                                1) Safety- as you mentioned, this was a construction site though, so maybe someone had modified it to bypass the safety.
                                2) Aim- this isn't like shooting a gun, sure you can get lucky, but a nail isn't a built and wouldn't fly straight even for that short of a distance.
