I like the show, but I fear it may be getting a little out of hand for the average TV viewer. My wife has kind of stopped watching it, but she finds it depressing and a little too gruesome. Plus she doesn't like to think about heading to the grocery store with my daughter and having some loonies say I choose them and slash their throat in broad daylight. Like I said, I like the show, but I see her point.

I cringed when I saw that cat in there, you knew right away what was about to happen. Kill all the people you want, but leave the animals alone.

Yep, it really served no purpose except for shock value. Hopefully there is still some substance left to the show, because it sure feels like it should have been a 1 season series like true detective with Bacon bringing the star power and a dramatic ending.

My wife and I stopped watching it in the first season. We enjoyed the storyline, but the brutal killings were very gruesome - and it put a bad taste in our mouths at the end of the night. One of the worst episodes for me is when Joe told parts of the cult/clan to kill people named Claire Matthews. So yeah, I do read on here for updates sake - so keep them coming, glad y'all are still enjoying it!

I see her point, too, and it's similar to my wife's point on how many times per day can Jack Bauer save the world.

For me, I don't watch TV to compare it to similar events in real life, I watch it for entertainment and escapism to just unwind from the day at work.

I'm not saying their views are wrong, just different than mine. Heck, my wife watches Glee, still.

I also feel this season is better than last season, so far.

Starting to get on the fence on this show. Got my wife to give it another try last night. She checked out after the opening scene last night and won't be watching anymore. So I'll have to watch it on my own time.

The writing is getting a little sketchy. How many times can hordes of police and FBI show up at a location only to have Ryan Hardy branch off by himself down a dark corridor come face to face with a villain and the villain escapes.

On top of that, wouldn't these cults have caused widespread hysteria by now? They are terror cells. I would think the national guard would start sweeping the area and citizens would start packing, any time a mask is seen, shoot now and ask questions later.

I was confused by some of the Claire stuff. Like, she convinced the FBI she could help Ryan without him knowing she was alive, which seemed sort of impossible to me. Then at the end she just shows up in the flesh. I'm sure they'll explain it away somehow but that just seemed odd

Yep, not sure it would really work that way that they'd show up at his apartment considering they have no idea who is in the cult and how many people their might be. They know already that there is possible inside connections to Joe C so I can't imagine that they would walk Claire into an apartment building where any number of people could see her.

Also, 1 wounded kid and a couple people just outsmarted the entire FBI. Escaped when the perimeter was on lockdown. What makes them think they can keep Claire safe?

I wonder what would happen in real life if a cult(s) were doing basically flash mob stabbings, bringing automatic weapons into hospitals, and making public threats on television. Pretty sure they would be considered terrorists and things would escalate on a national level. Corbin would be a giant fireball by now.

Oh, I agree with the above, but I just haven't compared television or movies to real life. If I did do that, I'd miss out on some great entertainment, in my opinion.

I love watching The Following because of Bacon and Purifoy and even some of the actors in between. It's a stretch for some of these things, just like The Blacklist, but I watch that show for Spader and Spader alone.

That's a good point, sometimes we have to disconnect from reality when we watch these shows, since they're fiction after all

Wow what a show last night. I love those twins!

At first my girlfriend said it was too much killing going on but now I watch her taking a peek to see what's going on.

I loved Joe and Emma going at it towards the end last night. He was partially right.

                              3 more episodes.

I wonder if Joe lives or dies this season. We all know Claire wants him dead, but I do like Purifoy's acting.

So Ryan Hardy knows he's headed right into the Lion's den and he ditches his cell phone so he can't be tracked? AKA can't get FBI/SWAT backup and air support to take down the cult.

Just seems odd that he'd go on a suicide mission right after he finds out that the love of his life is still alive.

Odds of going it alone and taking down the cult and Joe by himself 5% tops. Odds of failing, Joe escaping, and recapturing Claire 95%.

The next episode looks like its going to be pretty sweet though. Assassins Creed 5: The Following.
